I saw Fred yesterday at the Southern California Pen Collectors Club meeting. He has had issues with his web site from time to time, but it is up and running (along with his store). The site mentioned by the OP is long gone, the real site is:

http://www.fountain-pen-shop.com/

There is no on-line shopping or pictures of his inventory, but you can get an idea of the kind of place it is from yelp:

I went to his shop today for the first time.

Fred adjusted my Monblanc Meisterstuck 149 nib and it now writes wonderfully.

He is a great person to talk to.

He is there to help you.

I will definitely go again.

Would love to visit this store but it's 97 miles from me. :(

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

It's nearly that far for me, as well. Then again, I drive 500+ miles each way once a year to go to the SF Pen Show, so driving up to Fred's place is a walk in the park (to mix metaphors). It's worth it.

I'm very fortunate, Fred's shop is "freeway close" at 23 miles (and SoCal mileage is often determined by traffic crawl, not road mileage). A pal lives on the east coast, so he mails me his FPs. I drive them up to Fred, he works on 'em, then I mail 'em back east.

I have a friend who lives 23 miles away... If only I'd know before!

But I know now muahahahaha.

I bought two vintage pens from them many years ago. It was a nice shop and from the yelp pics has more displays then back then. Next time I am in SoCal I will have to visit.
