Nib Grinding Tools Question

My question: do you (or anyone else who uses a dremel in this way for nib shaping) use some kind of stand to hold the dremel while you grind or do you just free-hand it the whole way?

First, I wrote that reply six-plus years ago. These days, I use a 600-grit diamond wheel (13/16" in diameter, available from Widget Supply) for most tip grinding. When I've got a very large amount of material to remove, I use a 150-grit wheel for the bulk of the work and then finish with 600 grit.

As for a stand or holder, yes, most of us who work on nibs with a Dremel use one. I use a Dremel 2217, but this item has been discontinued. Dremel currently offers the 2615 "universal" holder, which clamps to the edge of a workbench; but I find this one particularly not comfortable to use.
