Greetings from Canada

Greetings all,

Just thought I would introduce myself here today. I've been reading these pages for some time and thought I would finally begin contributing to the forum. I've been collecting fountain pens for years off-and-on as well as restoring them (for myself) and general tinkering. As an archaeologist and semi-professional watchmaker, I enjoy tinkering with things including the attached image (which hopefully shows up).

Most of my collection revolves around vintage pens, particularly Parkers, and I use them all from time to time. No limited editions still in the boxes for me :¬)

Cheers for now,

Tom

Welcome Tom from another Canadian.

Whereabouts are you located?

Nice pens there.

Thank you both for your welcome to the site!

The orange pen is one that I "duplicated" from another UK Duofold Junior. I had one that had a badly damaged cap and barrel (probably stepped on) but the rest was in mint condition. I took a couple of acrylic pen blanks and made a duplicate cap, section and barrel (and cap jewel). It took rather a lot of time (especially with cutting the threads), but I am very pleased with the result. I may do another one day in a different colour of acrylic if I can find another similar broken Duofold.

Of course, as it is now an orange pen, I had to fill it with Noodler's Habanero :¬)

Cheers,

Tom

By the way, I'm in southern Alberta.

Welcome, Armour.

There are a few Calgarians and one or more Lethbridgians in the Fountain Pen Nuthouse already. You are not alone, and it's always good to see more Albertans on board.

Sometimes a technology reaches perfection and further development is just tinkering. The fountain pen is a good example of this.
