Rohrer & Klingner Sepia - scans attached

Alrighty, this is my third review today. This is the first time I have received three new colors and have been pleasantly pleased with all of them

This one is the R&K Sepia. I bought this one because it was advertised as "not your typical Sepia", and that is absolutely correct. THis color will play tricks on your eyes because it will actually shift from brownish to greyish to brownish to greyish right before your eyes. Which is it? It's really both. Pendemonium describes it this way...

"Sepia - Sepia is an unusual shade of brown. Not your typical brown! Darker than what I normally think of as Sepia. Offers some nice shading effects. It is NOT a reddish-brown, has a hint of grey hiding in the background."

Well, it's more than a hint of grey to my eye. I think this is one of the most interesting new colors I've seen in a while. If you're looking for a very brown or "orangy" shade for Sepia, this one definitely is NOT it, but if you are looking for something very unusual roughly approaching the vicinity of a shade which could be brown/grey, this could be for you. Take a look at the photo of the inside of the ink cap. You can clearly see golden brown, and grey. What are all of those speckles? I'm not really sure, BUT, the ink does have a rather sparkle effect to a minor degree. And those also play between the appearance of silvery sparkles, to kind of golden sparkles. It's different for sure.

It flows nicely and dries relatively quickly. I like it a lot, but it won't be something I'll use every day.

Dave

That is an interesting colour, I flick between liking and not liking it...

It seems kind of dark to call sepia but I think I like it better than what sepia actually looks like.

R&K Sepia always puts me in mind of Penman Mocha. :)

I really like Sepia because it is a flat brown with no overt red modifiers - I am not a big fan of the red-browns. ;)

I agree that Mocha would better describe the colour. But I like the colour very much. I've been looking for a really dark brown, and this looks just the thing.

Thanks
