Laura:

Congratulations on your Piccolo, it is very beautiful in its simplicity. I like the grip section. I have the elastic nib and with time it has become more flexible. I love this nib plus the Urushi feeling in my fingers: in spite of the lustre, it has an excellent grip.

I'm very happy for you. ;)

Laura,

Newbie here.I have been going through the forum for last one week and have changed my mind on which one pen to buy many times.

I think my search is now over!!!!!!!!!

Dont have words to describe it.

Enjoy it al you can.

Laura, that pen of your is a small work of art. Congratulations. Now, of course, I'd like to see a writing sample--because I'm almost convinced that my next Nakaya (whenever that happens) will have an elastic nib.

i got on the nakaya site and checked out their pens

(and options and order procedure)

must say, it gets a bit steep for me,

esp. once i added the "extras"...

two-tone nib,

super extra-fine nib,

zo-gan in the grip section...

but these pens are so beautiful!

guess i'd better start saving up for one...

:D Congratulations....

Gorgeous pen...

Beautiful photos.. and as usual, Fantastic review!

How does the elastic SEF write comparing to your Nakaya EF nib on the other Piccolo? I am thinking of getting an elastic EF for my next Nakaya.

Keep the photos coming...

Thank you very much for sharing!

thw: It is a little hard to tell exactly how much finer the SEF is over the EF... but I would estimate about 30% or so - it is not extreme, and thus the SEF is quite usable for everyday. The writing experience is totally different though - as I mentioned, if you have a light hand you get a very pleasant cushioned sensation while writing, but no variation to obscure tiny writing unless you choose to exercise the flex.

Btw, I have added a small writing sample to "The Nib" section of my review. :)

Wow, what a fantastic pen, I do not usually go for small pens but that is amazing-what ink are you running in it, BTW why do you miss-spell colour?

I've inked my Nakaya with J. Herbin Lie de Thé - a fantastic ink!

Haha... I usually do spell colour the British way, but as these reviews are for a global audience I go with color. :)

Laura, I hope you are on a percentage from Nakaya, you must have enticed many people to buy with your excellent Piccolo reviews!

I'm now on the slippery slope of visiting the Nakaya site almost daily, trying to decide which model I actually want, whether I can justify a 'special' and whether I can really afford whatever I choose! I've also noted the wonderful and unusual, though very expensive, accessories they list which you can only buy along with a pen. This makes the choice even harder..........

The pen is beautiful in its current color. Even if it doesn't change colors, you have a winner!

Same boat here. I may have to force myself to wait a bit; hopefully they will come to next year's Chicago pen show.

I notice that the piccolo comes in a longer writer's model. I wonder if they are able to put a protective layer of plastic on the inside of the cap to allow worry-free posting as I read about in the NS's review of the Sailor king of pens.

Anyone seen this model Nakaya? Lovely shape and color on this cigar pen too. I think the iconic shape of the piccolo is what strikes me first when I see it.

Mmmm....green is my favourite colour too and this pen looks just too good to be true! I can already imagine a Writer Cigar version in a deeper olive green warming itself in my hands.

Argh, I'm still desperately holding myself back from sending Nakaya an email but this is really pushing it!

I believe that Nakaya will soon be adding this pen to the Special Order section of their website, so they'll have all the price information along with it... :)
