Diamine Violet

This ink differs from Diamine Imperial Purple in that the Imperial Purple has more red in it. The following was written with a purple Sheaffer NoNonsense, B italic nib, and an orchid Esterbrook CH (purse pen), 2312 italic nib on Rhodia paper. No color correction was done since my monitor display is matching the ink color on the paper, though the monitor it is showing it slightly lighter than the original handwritten review.

The comparison below was done on Clairefontaine with a dip pen. Again, no color correction was done.

I do not have any info on the pH level or fade resistance of this ink. I did a quickie water test, holding the sample under running water for about 20 seconds. A residual, readable violet stain remained. While this ink is not meant to be waterproof, from what I observed, rain wouldn't completely wash it off of an envelope.

Looks very close to J. Herbin Violet Pensee. I like the Herbin for the violoet but the Diamine fro Sapphire Blue

Thanks for the kind words, capt. The green is my green mix which consists of 1:1 mix of Pelikan Green & Herbin Vert Pre. Hunter Green is darker.

Nicely done. Do you have any idea about staining pens? Those who write with Pelikans or Vacumatics might be interested. I always thought purple/violet inks were prone to staining.

I use this ink in my Pelikan M200s and have had no staining problems. I've heard what you've heard about purple/violet inks, but in my experience with a number of inks in this color range I've had no problem with any of them staining my pens. The only staining problem I've ever had was with a turquoise ink.

Great review, Thanks! The only problem I have is when I buy an ink after a review like this I am always dissapointed! Not in the color, but because the words that come out of my pen with the same ink never look as pretty!!
