Please help me ID this pen and pencil set

I went to an estate sell and found three sets of Waterman's fountain pen and pencil. The pens have never been inked and the pencils still have what I assume to be the original lead in them. I knew these were nice sets but unfortunately I don't know enough about this stuff to be able to identify them. I was hoping some of you guys would be willing to use your expertise to help me. The cases are unusual so I included a picture of it, if that helps any. Also these pens have "MADE IN USA" stamped on them and the pencils have the original price tag of $7.25 on them. The pen is 4 3/8 inches from tip to tip.

not my area of would-be expertise, but looks like an open nib form of the late 1940's Taperite slender (ladies') size. A higher line model given the GF cap and price tag.

 

By late 40's Waterman quality was not what it once was and the company was losing out to Parker and Sheaffer. Still, this is a nice wee set.

 

if have chance to dig up my catalog, will see if can name exact model.

I just went to Barnes and Noble. I saw an ad from the mid 40's of a Stateleigh set. The box that set came in looks like the boxes I have. It is hard and was external hinges. That is the best guess I have.

 

Any conformations or am I just a lost little puppy? If I was a betting man (and I am), I would put my money on the latter.
