Leaky Lamy

Hey, BoxerDad, I think you are kinda wrong...the safari/vista/al-star line are very trouble free and always write well.

I admit, what you have been through on the 2000 gives one pause. I think my woes are solved...but the nib is very juicy...the 2000 is a love/hate thing.

I have no problem recommending the safari/vista/al-star range to anyone. It's a rock-solid pen.

All FPs burp a little ink somewhere, eventually. They are like people! We are messy from time to time and we still love each other. (Well, mostly.)

Cap, send the pen to Lamy USA. They will fix what needs fixing. Bob Nurin is a good guy. Test different inks. Tanzanite and some PR inks have more of a laxative effect. Try another first. I am using PR inks in my Safari and I never have a problem.

Yeah, I'd call it "excessive loss/drain" -- my right middle finger gets pretty well coated by the end of the day, as well as my left index finger (I'm not sure how).

I'll try my jerry-rig from before -- a bit of wax around the underside of the section to keep ink from seeping up it. If that doesn't work out, I can send it off to Lamy.

OK, now it is enough!

just contacted lamy repair center asking them where to send the pen to be fixed.

my six months old L2K is leaking now almoust a month long, constantly and daily.

still love the pen, it´s unique design, material, nib smoothness, but ...

Lamy 2000 is really love/hate pen.

Dang. Little stuff like that irritates me. Especially when you really like the pen. Good luck to you!

I had the same problem with one of my Safaris. It wasn't enough leakage to be a real problem but was annoying. I thought the nib/feed might not be seated deeply enough so I grabbed the nib/feed with a folded paper towel and pushed the unit in towards the section. I didn't feel the nib move any but upon looking at it it did look as though the feed had moved in a bit. At any rate, the leakage stopped. Might be worth a try.

My Lamy 200 EF is for sale. Bought it in July 2007, inked twice. Box, paperwork included $90 plus shipping. US Only.

US Postal Money Order Only.

Send me an e-mail if you're interested. No leaks on this one, just had to lube it up with some silicone grease. Works great but I don't like it ! I'll stick with my Waterman Phileas ans waitning for my new Carene to come in.

Right, so the problem has progressed to the point where the Safari is leaking ink into the cap. I can't post the pen because ink will get on the body of the pen and subsequently all over me, and if I touch the opening of the cap I get a ring of blue on me. My fingers get blue stains from the ink creeping up the body very regularly.

I'm thinking it's defective. Is there anything I can do, or should I just send it in (or spring for a Pelikan M200 or something)?

Send it to Lamy for repair. I've purchased 5 pens in the Safari/Vista line, plus a Studio, and haven't had a problem yet. You must have gotten a defective one.

Regards,

Ray
