Hi all

I'm new here. I found an old cross mechanical pencil .

I took some pictures and was wondering if anyone knew anything about it.

On the top end is stamped A X T made in usa but I couldn't get a good picture of it. I never posted images so I this works

thanks Steve

I believe you have a broker's pencil. Stockbrokers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries used pencils with thick, soft leads so that their orders could be legible and easily seen. Some can be quite fancy--I've seen pictures of one that was solid gold. A nice find--these pencils aren't common. Finding replacement lead will be a challenge.

Good luck,

Don

Hi Don

thanks for the info. I was wondering why the lead was so thick, luckily it came with an extra lead. Any idea as to worth or where I could find that out. I didn't pay much for it and the silver waterman I posted posted under the waterman forum, but it would be nice to know if I scored it at a good price.

thanks Steve
