repair parts for a Waterman Ici Et La?

Recommended Posts

i have a damaged Waterman Ici Et La that my SO would very much like repaired and put back into use.

the section piece is badly cracked and chipped and needs replacing. i can do the work myself but i do need to find a section replacement.

any suggestions where i might find the part?

perhaps other models shared the same part and i could look at those too?

suggestions / recommendations / guidance all welcome.

thank you.

"i spent roughly 20 years writing a journal that extended to some 35 volumes. at the end of it i'd written a bunch of words that ended relationships, filled up my closet, spent a river of ink and afforded me some excellent practice with fountain pens. out of all of that i kept a few pens. i believe the moral of this story is that when you sit down to write it is best to keep an open mind about what you'll take away from it in the end."

Waterman France sells parts for their vintage models.

https://www.stylo-waterman.fr/fr/nos-produits/stylos/bloc-plume-waterman-allure-ct

The Allure section is the closest to the Ici et La, the Contact section has an email.

There are a number of pen auction sites, or auction sites that sell pens, in France, you might be able to find a New Old Stock or even better a user that has cosmetic issues but an intact section.

I need to find them again.

Also, in the U.K, search for stationary stores, small shops that sell a number of office supply goods the older the shop, the better.

You might have to call, it will take longer than buying from a link in France but, you might get a bargain because the Ici et La is quite an old model.

I believe this is a Montgomery, in the U.S, the site looks old, contacting them via email or trying a phone call to see if they are still in business is a must.

Speerbob has an ebay site where he sells second hand fountain pens , he is located in the U.S

The link below list reputable pen repair people in the U.S, they might have the part you are looking for. Speerbob , the vendor also does repairs, he might know where to find spare Waterman parts.

wow! many thanks for the time and effort you put into this @Anne-Sophie. I see some of the prices in France are much better than what I've been seeing here in the UK. very promising!

I had to find out where Pictlandia was, the flag should have been a clue.

I understand the importance of a sentimental writing instrument, since the Ici et La was produced in France, the chance of getting parts, one which met the teeth of a puppy, or the fist of a toddler was greater in the country of origin.

Since I speak the language, I thought I could help.

Let me know how it goes.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.

Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
