More info on a Pilot Two Cranes Yukari by Seiki Chida FK-20

Recommended Posts

I recently bought this pen and I would like to know more about it. I was told it was from the 90s but the date code on the nib indicates 2005.The artist is Seiki Chida and it appears to be Togidashi instead of the Togidashi-taka that Namiki tends to use on these pens today.  I had thought that around 1996 Pilot had moved over to using the Namiki name for these pens so I am wondering if I have the wrong nib? I had the first version of the Namiki Nightline which had a date code of 1997 and it was fully branded "Namiki" not "Pilot.

Thank you for the help!

The same motif has been used by other artists from Kokkokai*. Eventually the other one is made in the 90s while this is a newer pen? Ask Namiki/Pilot.

* Search with your photo on images.google.com and you will find the pens made by other artists - with older looking nibs.

Yes, I have this motif used by other artists and even the same artist with the Togidashi-taka technique.

Is there a good way to contact Namiki? I haven't had luck in the past contacting Pilot Pen of America.

It's a very cool pen. You got it in/from Japan? Not sure as to why some things get branded Pilot vs Namiki but there seems to be more Pilot maki-e in Japan than elsewhere. Also, some designs are in service for a long time. Maybe someone ordered this design but was Namiki retired so they made it Pilot (?).
