Waterman Nib Exchange - How to deal with problems

So, just my first message on Watermn forum (and FPN). Not positive at all.

I just bought my first Waterman (3. March 2025). Carene Core Blue CT, Fine Nib. Seems to be legit reseller (here in Czechia), no grey zone, fair price. Beautifull pen, understated elegance - as expected and hoped.

I decided to exchange the nib F to EF one. Immediately contacted W., arrange exchange, scanned receipt, photos... You know.

I didn´t used Caren et all. Pristine condition, not inked. In worst case (used nib) I decided to buy second EF nib. Older one could be spare for me.

Today I received email from France. To my suprise the nib is damaged. "Demaged front end", out of warranty service.

What do you recommand to me? BTW I wraped the pen carefully, bubble foil+cardboard+padded envelope.

Thanks

Michal

Sorry to hear. New member as well, ……..my experience was completely different. I bought an Exception Reflections of Paris in February, medium nib and felt the nib was not quite right  out of the box, I send it to France and Waterman replaced it with another Medium NIB at no cost……I was still unhappy with the replacement nib , so I send it back to France and Waterman replaced it yet again , this time to broad nib, again at no cost .

My interaction with representative at the customer service call center was one of the best i have ever had. It’s not really a call center, rather a concierge service. I was always able to speak to the same gentleman every time I called , and I called several times.

I would call them and request they tell you exactly how it is damaged and lay out your case. Maybe there is just a misunderstanding ….

I would send them the photo and ask them to return a photo showing the damage.

My experiences with Parker and Waterman nib swaps have been very good.

Thanks!
Send them original receipt (again) and claimed warranty. Let´s wait a bit.

Anyway it´s like Catch 22. I cannot use the pen before nib exchange to check its condition...

So, I received another email and photo of my nib. Horrible bent, demaged in transport. Probably UPS or somebody in repair facality. I never ever deal with such case! Imagine gramophone cartridges and especially needles. From Germany, USA, Japan and Australia. My mistake - I didn´t document the process of packaging of a pen (buble foil +  cardboard + padded envelope).

I´m afraid there is no real chance to dispute further... I strongly recommnad all of you to carefully document everything. Just bad luck.

Look at attached photo. It seems to me the nib was ok.

Follow it up with the post office. They may be responsible if you packed it well.

Good luck.

Waterman Carene EF – First impression

I received my Carene EF yesterday. So far so good. I inked KZW IG Blue Black after thorough cleaning. Seems to me on par with Pelikan M215 EF and more EF than Lamy 2000. 😊

BTW: Waterman/Newell packaging was very precise and safe. Newell used this time not UPS but DPD/Colissimo…

Original F nib is horribly bent and damaged. I will try to dispute UPS, but it seems worthless to me.

I can move on and consider another goal. Maybe first real high-end pen, maybe try flex nib.
