Very nice, but to be honest there are too many new colours plus ever increasing prices - it's become too much and I think I'm over it.

Will work for pens...

These special colors put the lowly Eco in the range of the 580. I'd just as soon they made more standard Ecos in different colors. But, this is a good looking pen.

I saw an e-ad for one of these just this morning.

It certainly is nice looking (just like the Indigo/Bronze Eco).  But what I worry about is whether the Ecos have the same issue as the 580-AL and 580-ALR models (just in a smaller pen) -- that the piston doesn't extend all the way to the back of the feed, and when the pen is low on ink you can get air pockets/air bubbles that block the ink flow to the feed....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

The 580 with the #5 nib isn’t any great value which makes this new Eco questionable at 60% higher than a plain Eco. Probably new 580’s will get dressed up like the Iris snd they’ll be higher just like any new 700’s (kyanite and Iris) they release vs. the original 700R. Just saying. I’ve gotten so addicted to these Twsbi releases that it’s hard to back down. If I had to pay shipping and sales tax, it would be NO! 😊

They are like popcorn. You can't have just one.

There’s so many reasons not to get one. The problem is none of those are stopping me. 😊

I want more 580s, maybe with a semitransparent body and cap.

I resent that TWSBI has such a high markup on these special edition pen but don't match the piston rod color to the rest of the trim. The onyx one technically don't have this problem but still...

Piston rods are made out of a different material that is quite slick and has different material properties. This is why we rarely see color matched piston rods. Usually there are one or two colors, and that's all. For Sailor for example, in their converters you only have black and transparent rods. In Pelikans, you have white and black (from what I remember).

It's hard to match colors when the material is very different. The colors don't come out the same even if the same coloring agent is used. Sometimes you can't even use the same coloring agent.

Stolen: Aurora Optima Demonstrator Red ends Medium nib. Serial number 1216 and Aurora 98 Cartridge/Converter Black bark finish (Archivi Storici) with gold cap. Reward if found. Please contact me if you have seen these pens.

Please send vial orders and other messages to fpninkvials funny-round-mark-thing gmail strange-mark-thing com. My shop is open once again if you need help with your pen.

Nahvalur figured it out for the same $50. At a 42% markup over the base models, TWSBI needs to figure it out also.

Not trying to start anything; just one pen-lovers humble opinion.

That's the housing I can see in that picture, not the rod. I'd rather have a plastic housing and rod because it's generally smoother than having metal parts there. I've seen a lot of wear and tear on the mechanism especially if it's aluminum and not brass or plastic. Pelikan does not color match those parts either and just uses whatever it is they have.

The inside of the Nahvalur housing is black plastic; just the outer housing is matched. TWSBI has already figured it out with the diamond pens so they have the necessary machines in house. This model is working for them so I'm not one to say otherwise. It just baffles me that $15 isn't enough for two rings, a clip, nib AND a piston rod.
