KWZ Orange

This is review #175.

Part of the mystery ink blind testing on another website.

This is a very, very joyous, wet, reddish/ coral orange (depending nib size, pen) with faint shading (M/ B dry Lamy Safari nib), zero water resistance and very long dry times on Rhodia. You need to have blow dryer nearby or live in the desert or a blotter like the good old times ;)

The colour is so bright that seeing the shading is a bit difficult. I doubt with a wet pen, much shading is seen.

The ink has the typical vanilla scent of KWZ. Though I admit, despite my sensitivity to scent, I did not smell it.

It couldn’t handle the Kanwrite Desire with the FPR Ultra flex nib. Either it poured ink or was ink starved. I wouldn’t put in a wet pen/ B nib combo.

Will I buy it? no, did it make me happy, yes :)

Art Work:

Sphinx & the Snek

Inspired by @LizEF fabulous fantasy story.

It is said in the Scroll of Sphinx and the scroll of Snek, beware, when the Snek & Sphinx are bound by the Magus.. the Dragon will rise again...

This crude sketch was done by one of the scribes and recoloured by modern day techniques :D

Nice review, as always. Tempting, at least for those of us into oranges  However, I'm not one of those... although for me it's more of a "coral", which in fact then does make it more appetizing -- no, I'm not sure corals are something to be eaten, and I've seen thousands of them under the surface of the Red Sea... 🍊

There once was a LE cartridge of Lamy named "Coral". A 5-pack labelled T10. As usual, Lamy never got around to labeling the actual colour of the insides, just like their 50-ml T52 bottles. I still have a few of the cartridge packs.

You probably lost me at "zero shading", but there are a few inks that have managed to overcome that lack and appeal to me anyway...

And ink that makes you happy is a good sign, even if one doesn't buy more. :)

Ah, bold quotes for a bold color. :)  Not an ink for copy paper...  That flex on the Midori looks totally different - almost hot pink!

Not sure what's happening on that swatch card, but it looks fun. :D  Mousey standing on an orange while kitty is saying, "Get that toxic fruit away from me!" ? :D  Bunny and monkey are fun, too.

Wow, look at that ink let go of the paper like it was never there! :)

Oooh, yeah!  Now the good stuff. :D  Sphinx and snek, lookin' downright regal!   That turquoise-ish blue is a perfect complement to the orange. :)  Wow, Essri's really learned to control writing / drawing tools! :D   And serious balance - great job with all three of these, @yazeh - above and beyond this time!

Thanks for such a fun review! :)

I didn't know that. I'm not very familiar with Lamy inks :(  I have J Herbin's Corail des Tropiques on the back burner and a slew of the new waves of chromoshading inks to review :D

Actually, I have to re-correct myself, there's some shading with M & B nibs. The thing is that the colour is so bright, that the shading is lost to my eyes :)

Yes. Apparently orange is the colour of creativity ;)

It's actually pure red, no sign of orange

It's funny. I just realized that I did a variation of the same drawing as the swatch card :D

I sort of did the dog ate my homework thingy! :D The ink is actually a minty green but maybe it got  mixed up with the grey ink.
