Diamine Golden Sands Shimmer Ink in a Lamy Safari

Hi all. My apologies if this question has been done to death. I have Googled it which showed mixed opinions. I would just like to get a general consensus from the people here in FPN.

I have been asked to do the table place-cards at my nephew's upcoming wedding. He and his fiancé have chosen a gold ink for this purpose. What have been your experience with Safaris and shimmer inks ?  I intend using a 1.5 stub.

I also have a Pilot Metropolitan, but reluctant to use it unless absolutely necessary. This pen has a 1.1 stub.

Thanks.

In my experience, shimmer inks tend to clog in the feed of the Safaris. To be fair, they tend to clog in a lot of pens with traditional feeds. In the Safaris, it's also really hard to pull the feed out in many cases because of the way it fits in the grip section. I would pick a different pen that can be more easily disassembled to remove the shimmer in case of clogging. I generally tell people not to disassemble pens or pull nibs unless necessary, but it's kind of a must when working with shimmer to get rid of all the particles.

One pen I would recommend for this purpose you are thinking of is a Pilot Parallel. They are relatively inexpensive and completely come apart if you need to clean them. They also are well designed to accommodate shimmer and some solid content passing through the nib.

Stolen: Aurora Optima Demonstrator Red ends Medium nib. Serial number 1216 and Aurora 98 Cartridge/Converter Black bark finish (Archivi Storici) with gold cap. Reward if found. Please contact me if you have seen these pens.

Please send vial orders and other messages to fpninkvials funny-round-mark-thing gmail strange-mark-thing com. My shop is open once again if you need help with your pen.
