Spring Festival Draws to an End: new models introduced

There are a raft of new models coming to market, Shanghai Knife Dude has a great roundup of some upcoming models on his blog.

However, this new one from Admok is quite exciting, although introduced at a ridiculously high price. It’s a button filler and when I saw it was called a “28” it took a while for the bell to ring; why this pen was so familiar: it is the famous model 28, originally made by Gold Star, I believe. I have later versions of this pen from Gold Star & Hero, when it had become a squeeze filler. I believe Hero still makes a version of this pen, or did until very recently. Other people on this forum have more information about this classic pen, I’m sure.

365Days is pricing this pen at $80 so it may be a long wait until it’s at a more reasonable price, tariffs or not. What struck me about the 28 is just quintessentially vintage pen, trim, shape, etc. Bringing it back as the original button filler is the chief’s kiss, IMO.

If it wasn't so expensive, I would gladly add it to my collection.

It’s ridiculous! If it comes down to the current J800 price of $40-45 or a bit more, I’d get it but otherwise no.

I had totally forgotten I’d posted about the 28 and got great responses.

365Days whoever it is, may be ripping you off. Is it a Ebay seller?
Although based in mainland China, I am quite interested about how overseas buyers acquire Chinese pens. Would you give a brief introduction?

365Days Stationery Store is a seller on AliExpress. It’s customary for new pen models to be priced higher than the ‘regular’ price that will be established within a month or two. The ‘regular’ price is typically 75% to 100% more than the street price in China—that’s why selling on AliExpress is profitable.

Foreign buyers buy Chinese pens online. Probably the biggest channels for buying Chinese pens are AliExpress, Temu, eBay, and Alibaba but also Amazon.com.

Expensive if you compare it with the Hero 856. What nibs are available?

Good question and an odd answer: 0.8 (medium?) and 1.2 (fude?).

Well, the price dropped overnight to $55, which is more reasonable. If the price drops to around $40, I’ll get one. large.IMG_1486.jpeg.a638aeec7c913cd3889727126dc064d0.jpeg

Seeing that it is an actual button filler. A vintage one will start at 150 USD. A NOS around 300

Maybe these days.  I have a few vintage Parkers that are button fillers, and while not all of them have been repaired yet, I haven't paid ANYTHING like $150 US even including repairs on the rest of them....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I think so it does not say on 365. Just says .08mm or 1.2mm. I sent the question to 365. I tried a fude nib once. I prefer a regular flex nib.

Yeah I think it depends on where you can find them. Last week I went to flea market and saw a parker durfold jr for 60 bucks but lid was cracked. Unfortunately for me the person only accepted cash, was 40 bucks short.  To make it worse when I did get the rest of the money someone else bought it.

and for a number of Japanese who do not buy outside of Japan, some sellers try to sell Chinese pens for a huge price increase on Yahoo Auctions

If the Chinese sellers would start to make good pages with real information not with strange marketing talk, they would be much more successful.

"Information" on Amazon too is ...
