Yikes!  I need to get reservations in soon!  Thought I had a bit more time than that.... :headsmack:

Just got my reservations for the show taken care of.  Still need to deal with hotel stuff, though.

We will be there, again.  Nice to see the web page has been updated with a list of vendors.

Craig

I'll have two tables there with 50+ Nakayas, 15+ King of Pens including several Japan-only Limited Editions, Tohma, Namiki, Pilot, Taccia, Montblanc Writers Editions, and more, along with 1/2 table of special markdowns.

Hope many of you will stop by and say hello.

  • 3 weeks later...

I've already started writing out my packing list -- including what pens to bring to use (and to make sure I don't have to run out of ink with those, what bottles to pack), and the ones that are highest priority for repairs....

And of course I also have to get stuff done before going, like getting some bills in the mail.

Posting this because I saw this post on Reddit about a pen case lost by someone, and found by the OP. Here is the link to the lost pen case.

Etsy,

The show was fun as usual.  My wife and I checked into the hotel Friday afternoon and left late Sunday morning.  Vendor tables were set up in the main ballroom, a hallway, and an adjacent room which is similar to last year’s show setup.  Other rooms were for seminars.  With parking at a premium, we found a space and did not leave.  The hotel staff were very accommodating.  The restaurant menu was limited but food was very good.

The vendors consisted of a mix of factory and smaller pen dealers, along with several repair and nib experts.  It seemed that there was something for everyone.  Most of the vendors told us that sales were good, although attendance appeared to be lighter than in previous BWI pen shows at this location.  There appeared to be a good selection of pens, ink, stationary, and other things.  We purchased pens from Darail Pens, Fantastic Pens, Crazy Alan, Franklin-Christoph, and Luxury Pens, plus a pen case from Penquisition and some inks.  The haul was good for us.

in addition, we re-made acquaintances with several people that we see at the BWI  and DC Pen shows.

In summary, the show was nice, the hotel was nice, and the people were nice.

Regards,

Craig

Well, I got several pens repaired, got some inks, got a converter for the Decimo I had just gotten for my husband, got a fun t-shirt (at the Darailz Pens table) that says "I need more fountain pens!" had some lovely conversations with people.  And the swag bag for the VIP/weekend pass people had some really nifty stuff.  But also, of course lost that zipper case (with at least two pens -- both of which I'd brought to have looked at/repaired -- and also lost a pen that I had literally JUST paid for getting repaired. :gaah:

And because I was not staying on site, and the doors to the back hallway were locked from the inside (with signs stuck on them saying "No Entrance" I had to walk clear back around to the front of the hotel and then all the way back down the corridor past the bar and then all the way to the end of the side hallway to get to the entrance doors to the ballroom.  So I was pretty exhausted by the end of each day.  And that of course was AFTER driving through snow (and some sleet) most of the way to the show on Thursday (at least the weather on Sunday for driving home was much better).

Hi Ruth, I just saw your post. I’ll copy your post, and share it with the person on Reddit.

I sent a message to the person with a section of your post copied and pasted.

It sure would be quite the thing if it’s yours, and I can help you get it back. I let the person know I was willing to be the go between.

@Misfit and @Ashram -- Thanks to you both.

I was able to go on Reddit via my gmail account last night, but couldn't figure out how to PM the person who posted.  Although I did say that I'd be happy to ID at least some of the pens (I don't remember now what all was in that case, but they were all ones I'd brought to have worked on).  Of course I was also NOT amused by the person who said, "Oh that's MINE!"  And then said, "Just kidding...."  I also had trouble figuring out how to even log out of Reddit and sent THEM a message only to get some auto-response email going "Oh we no longer support those..." and had some links to what they have transitioned to....  Sigh.

I honestly thought that I had somehow NOT gotten to the show with that case -- that it had had gotten lifted by the guy who was supposed to have fixed the plumbing in my hotel room (and when I got back from dinner the people at the desk told me he might be still there, only there was NO evidence he'd done ANYTHING to fix the running tub spigot).  It never occurred to me that I'd lost it AT the show (in spite of several people going, "What's in the basket?" and were guessing a baby/puppy/cat...; I have found that a basket is more convenient than, say, a backpack.

Now hoping that the Snorkel I had gotten repaired at the show ALSO turns up.  I had a bit of a panic when I couldn't find another Snorkel (but that turned up in the "swag bag") and the Parker 75 that ended up needing a replacement nib assembly (but that pen had fallen down behind my chair in the living room when I got home Sunday night).
