Few older Gamas with No. 40 nibs

Over the past few months, I have been enjoying these Gamas with number 40 nibs. Below from left to right: Gama Supreme, Gama Supreme (acrylic barrel and ebonite section), Gama Demonstrator, Gama Kuyil (I may have got the names wrong). The first two pens from the left were prototypes from many years ago. They originally came with Ambitious No. 40 nibs.

Below, Gama Supreme (brown rippled ebonite) with No. 40 Ambitious nib.

Below, Supreme (blue acrylic barrel) with Wingsung 630 nib. This is hands down my favourite steel nib, it is so soft. I do not like the modern hard-as-nail nibs (this is why I just have one Pilot, the Justus).

Below, Gama Demo and Gama Kuyil, both with WS630 nibs. The Demo is tuned to be wetter and wider, the Kuyil is tuned to be a daily driver. Both are given oblique grinds.

Beautiful pens Sir 👍 That first Gama with just a little stepdown at section looks cool. Haven't seen that one before I think.

I find Jumbo pens with large nibs somewhat uncomfortable to use though. The default smaller nibs on these pens work better for me 🙂

I have not seen it in the wild either :) It is a beautiful, ergonomic design. For this pen I have tried both 6 and 8 size nibs, for me, 8 is a winner, albeit by a small margin.

I have a bunch of Oliver delights with 5.5 nibs and KW Kingdoms with 4 nibs, I am equally happy using 8 and 4 size nibs :) Do you stop at 6 or also use 5, 4 size nibs as well?

Other than #6, most of my pens have the Indian no.8(28mm) nibs Sir. Those I find to be the most comfortable. Don't think I have any nib smaller than that. I used to have several smaller nib pens earlier in the hobby, but after moving to Jumbo pens I sold them all.

Nice, yes, the Indian no. 8 nibs are super ergonomic as well. It just seems to work for the older Indian ebonite models.

very nice. the nibs are wing sung?

friction fit or screw in?

Thanks!

Yes, they are wingsung ones meant for the 630 model. I got a few loose nibs (not units). They are friction fit into the section with the original ebonite feed (35mm) that the pens came with.

Thanks!
