Diamine Master of Puppets (German Exclusive)

This is an another German exclusive, which I bought from fountainfeder. It’s a burgundy ink with heavy murky green/gold sheen, most visible on Midori/ Tomoe River 68 gsm paper.  Surprisingly, only a few gold specks were visible on Iroful and Rhodia, well maybe if you pour it on the paper, you'll be surprised ;) So, if you want sheen go with a wet pen and preferably, Japanese paper. :)

Ink has no water resistance,  so ink it is suitable for ephemeral thoughts.

The name is after Metallica’s song. It’s my understanding that theme is about how the master, (drugs, or one can expand to any addiction, i.e. inks ;) ) controling the puppet (human). While I couldn’t appreciate the music, I actually found the purple/burgundy ink with the green murky sheen intriguing.

You can read more about these inks, and Diamine Guitar series on the Nick Stewart website.

Iroful - While I captured the sheen, it's nothing compared to TR and Midori below.

Art Work:

For some reason I could not create a lot /or write with this ink. I don't know if it's the name, or lack of water resistance, I could not appreciate this ink, which is a pity. It's a solid Diamine ink.

The chroma is quite interesting and complex.

Feed-sheen! :D  I have one feed that I can't seem to get the sheen off of (from Sailor Seiboku).

Writing samples: This looks like one of those inks that needs a broader, and perhaps not-too-wet nib, so that the ink is spread out enough to see color.  I like the look in M, B, and stub.

Nice contrasting opinions in those quotes. ;)

Interesting that Iroful didn't sheen so much - I've read a report or two that red inks behave differently on Iroful.  If that's true, that might explain the lower sheen.

 Poor kitty puppet.  Art reflects life.

Whoa!  Water totally destroys the adventures of kitty and mouse!  Is Mousey riding on a puppy? :D

:lticaptd:Still love that cat alarm clock - reality abstracted.

I don't get the sleeping volcano reference, but it's a nice drawing.  The ink seems to lend itself well to portraits and washes.

Thanks, @yazeh, for another great review!

I'm with Liz on the chroma.  Holy cow.

The artwork...a shame you don't care for writing with Master of Puppets. But the sketches are great.  Kitteh looks like he is standing there patiently, but about to explode.

The ink is intriguing, but the name creeps me out a little.

I can see the sheen on your Safari feed. And it's true about puppets being able to say what one can't.  (Which is why they should be kept far away from me).

@yazeh, thanks for making these detailed, entertaining InkSplorations!  Keep ‘em coming!

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

I'm assuming depending what effect ( i.e. sheen vs real colour) one needs to find the appropriate pen :)

I try to see both sides of the coin, it's a much needed exercise in our polarized world 😊

Interesting, I'll keep that in mind with other reds.

To be honest I was trying to draw a cat but then the dog ate my homework and I had to improvise 🐶

Maybe the terminology is incorrect. When I did the wash, it reminded me of a suppressed rage, hiding  inexpressed, unfelt grief and sadness, hence the sleeping volcano....

I rarely write anymore with fountainpens. I mostly draw and use much more ink 😊

Same here. I couldn't bring myself to do much with it...

 Yes, exactly!  But will Sailor Doyou remove the stains on the garage floor?  (This will likely remain a mystery as no one who has the kind of money to afford that would think of it.)

 That works.  I figured it was a film or literary reference I was missing, and thereby missed the figurative reference.

I doubt that ink will clean oil. Otherwise, it would be the miracle cure whenever, there's an oil spill :( but then our resident professor Eeness @InesF. Maybe she's working on  something to cure the world :)

Yep. Sometimes drawings that I do surprise me.I can't just name the portrait but sometimes I need to dig deeper to find the appropriate name. It's Houston we got a problem, rigmarole again? :D

I'm with Nina, and will not say all the details I think about this ink. ;)

Thank you @yazeh for this ink review, for rescuing cat and mouse from the water test (I guess, you did it behind the screen - how could they appear later if not rescued?) and for your inspiring and funny drawings!

When those German exclusives were new, I considered buying them all. Later, after some repetitions of my unpleasant adventures with the dried ink residues that spread across my desk every time I open the jar, only to do its job as dye at the worst possible moment and leave colourful dots on my hands, clothes and paper, I have banned mega-sheening inks!

With that said, I enjoy Master of Puppets colour from far while having the pleasure to look at alarm-clock cat and waiting for the volcano to erupt ... ;) :)

Looking forward to what will come next (and if the volcano will erupt). 👍

That must be unpleasant. Rhe reason I don't like sheenig inks, besides what you mentioned is that they are distracting (It's like typing with super fancy fonts, Gothic anyone 😄), and in this case the name. I can't bring myself to use an ink, named after drug addiction.
