Krishna Zuki

Krishna Zuki

Received this beautiful Krishna Zuki pen today. As per Dr.Sreekumar(the maker of Krishna Pens) the pen design is based on an old model from Kim and Co, the Kim Nova.

The pen came in a simple, yet beautiful, cloth pouch. The finishing is very well done, as is always the case with any Krishna pen that you choose.

All the Krishna pens come with iQR/iQRC nib grind, which is a smooth and rounded nib grind that's comfortable to write at any angle. Now these pens are also offered with special nib grinds by Dr.Sreekumar. I've been lucky to have some of his earlier nib grinds, and know how beautifully they write.

It's recommended to get these grinded nib units along with a section, so that it's easy to swap them out with your existing Krishna pen, and the tines or the nib and feed don't get misaligned while doing so. Since I mostly use Jumbo-sized pens I opted for only the nib units, which as you can see arrived safely in a plastic vial.

The special nib grinds that are offered as of now are Crisp Italic, Cursive Italic, Stub, Architect, and Extra fine. Please refer to the comparison pic between these grinds, which I have shared after my pen pics, to understand the difference between them.

The pen is available in various finishes: Krishna lacquered, ACR lacquered, Glossy Ebonite, and Matte Ebonite finish. I opted for the Matte finish, but have also shared some other lacquered finish Zuki pens here, with the permission of Dr.Sreekumar. Every pen enthusiast needs to know that such beautiful pens do exist 🙂

The pen is neither too big, nor too small, and should be comfortable for most people. Have shared comparison pics with Ratnamson Supreme and Deccan Advocate to give you an idea of its size, or you can refer to the approximate measurements below.

As of now, the pens are only sold via a Whatsapp group, based on invitation. For future updates, and availability of these pens and nib units for open sale, please refer to the Krishna Pens page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100068941923209

Thanks again to Dr.Sreekumar for this beautiful pen and these specially grinded nib units.

Approximate Measurements:
Capped: 150mm
Uncapped: 137mm
Max Cap Width: 15mm
Max Barrel Width: 13-14mm
Section Width at Narrowest Point: 11mm

Thanks. iQR/iQRC is a nib grind in which the pen comes by default. It writes smoothly from all sides and you can write with the pen at any angle. You may have used some pens which don't write/skip writing if the pen keeps rotating while writing. You won't face such issue with this iQR grind.

Wonderful pen and great pictures sir! What is the line width in iQR/iQRC size? Are F,M,B all available? Are the nibs standard 35 mm Ambitious which are then ground by Dr Sreekumar? Is there a way to receive the invite to the WhatsApp group through which sales are done?

Thank you. Yes F,M,B are available in iQR grind. For the stub nib grinds you can also choose left oblique and right oblique besides F,M,B. And extra fine itself is a special grind.

Yes the nibs are 35mm ones, jowo threaded. But likely by Kanwrite and Magna Carta. I will message you Dr.Sreekumar's number.

That's a great default option

Yes. But when your turn comes I'd highly recommend to get one specially grinded nib as well. Those are even better writers in my experience. That Stub option is suitable for most people, or else you can pick others as well.

Ebonite is such a nice material for pens.  There's a warmth to it that you don't get with other materials, and a lot of times the colorways are just beautiful as well!

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Fully agree 👍 I love my ebonite pens and use them throughout the year. It's good that Krishna pens offers these pens in different finishes and lacquer, so that everyone can pick what they like 🙂

Nice detailed post. the one you bought is the red-black ebonite? Don't tempt me like this🙃

What is the full form of iQR/iQRC? Some kind of standard or line width or something?

Regards

Lovely pen, congrats!

I know you have a penchant for Indian jumbos, would this be considered a jumbo?

I'm sure the nib is fantastic

Dr Sree has cured several nibs of mine for which I remain forever indebted.

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.

Yes Sir, I got the ebonite one.

Don't remember the full form. Earlier these grinds were different, but last year Dr.Sreekumar told that it's the same grind from now on. And for the new grinds I have mentioned the names and shared the comparison pic. iQR/iQRC is a very basic grind in which nib is more rounded in design and it's more forgiving while writing at different angles. That's it.

Thank you. This one is not Jumbo Sir, but it's bigger than the Ratnamson Supreme and so it's comfortable to write with. I would have loved it if it was more girthier, but that's just me 🙂 Most should find this size to be comfortable. They will launch the new version of Kim Jumbo this year and that's one pen I am eagerly waiting for, i.e., if I am lucky enough to get one when it launches. Have yet to ink this pen, but based on my past experience it should be a pleasure to write with. You are lucky to have several pens tuned/grinded by him Sir 🙂
