My handwriting tests

Waiting for necessary to begin study copperplate handwriting (as for caliken suggestion), I try my hand ability. First letter (V) is my free-hand invention, second one (A) copying a "Rich test format" from a video on youtube. I'm very impressed from this type of calligraphy. For these large ink consumption examples I use 140gms paper.

Hope you like them.

You obviously have a good eye for proportion and a steady hand - also it takes imagination to create a letter such as your V - most impressive. Thanks for posting these.

I'm not an expert of calligraphy but my first expression is that you are very talented, so just continue it!

Especially I like your free-hand invention V!

Very impressive! What pen(s) and ink(s) are you using?

Sorry, forget to say:

Nononsense FP with medium italic nib & PR arabian rose (2nd shot is more dark than real)

Pilot Lucina with fine nib & PR arabian rose

Kaigelu #316 with medium nib & PR shoreline gold

Blue points made with my new Pilot VP with medium nib (simply a pleasure to write with it)

Letters are 2" height.

I'm very happy for your comments.

I like the style of your "A". Please show us more when ready.

Yeah, the A is so nice. It's more like a drawing, isn't it?

Every day I find a piece of beauty examples, and I say "Why cannot I?" The hand is uncertain, cause I'm a beginner, but I want sharing for you.

My suggestion is: let your FP express themselves! You'll be satisfied a lot.

PR Arabian rose ink + medium italic nib/extrafine nib.

Lowercase are 1/2" height. I have to remember to put a scale next time :headsmack: .

Beautiful work, Tipstricks! Bet you are really enjoying doing this, and I hope you will keep posting examples for us. (Those highly ornate capitals are indeed called cadels, but I don't think cadels is the name of a script.) Whatever the case, they surely look nice.

Best, Ann
