Jinhao 10 soon sold out?

Recommended Posts

So many models of the Jinhao 10 are sold out or nearly sold out.

What do you think, will there be new batches?

Any new model on Taobao?

You have seen the zodiac sticker version? Same color, but a cartoonish zodiac symbol is added to the barrel.

The first ones on sale are priced very high and only 10 of the zodiac symbols were available:

Yes Dan, I saw it in the other post here.

Thanks for the link. But no thank you to Jinhao.

I wonder why it didn't turn up when doing my search for new models.

Search in AliExpress is very unreliable, mostly on purpose, I suspect.

The pink-gold and white-gold have now appeared at the store of one seller - quite expensive. I see already price increases for nearly sold out pens.

Wonder if this was it for the Jinhao 10 story?

Have they fixed the drying out issue that some had?

I think they are still selling the first batch.

Among my pens is one which seems to be bad. As soon as this pen is emptied, I will test another ink to see if it is the pen/ink combination.

Got a comment on my Instagram post - just realized it.

"Unfortunately, it is the pen. I moved the nib to Pilot Capless/Vanishing Point, and the nib does not dry out. However, the pilot nib unit will dry out in the Jinhao body. A simple way to test is you blow into the bottom half of the pen. Jinhao - you can blow air through but Pilot no."

My grey gradient Jinhao 10 arrived today. I didn’t realize these gradient pens were also sparkly. I’ve said before I’m not especially keen on these gradient or ombré colors, but this grey one works for me. It’s quite well put together. And it’s sparkly!

I inked it with Diamine Oxblood without flushing the nib unit and it wrote beautifully from the first stroke. My favorite nibs are EF, so I have a high tolerance for feedback, but certainly enjoy a smooth pen. This EF is as smooth as one could reasonably expect such a fine nib and I felt no feedback.

I tried blowing through both ends of the pen, as per the suggestion above, and was not able to force air through any of my J10s (I have the gold-plated linear and matte black but wasn’t moved to ink one until the grey arrived today.)

However, I have a bit of ink apparently coming through the clip mount on one side. I filled the converter away from the pen and have no ink on my hands, so I can’t imagine how it got there except by seepage from inside. I’ll keep an eye on that and whether the nib dries prematurely.

One thought: for those of you who bought one of the original colors, you may want to hold on to it. If, when they make more of those colors and use the clip with the Jinhao imprint, your earlier pen with Jinhao on the barrel band will. quickly be a rarity.

I just did a quick calculation of how many Jinhao 10 pens were sold on Aliexpress as Aliexpress shows how many pens a shop sold.

On page 1-2 of the search results, they indicate that about 2000 pens were sold. I didn't crosscheck with the seller's name, so there might be some double-counting but there also might be some missing.

There is also a seller who shows remaining pens in the 900s.

That looks like batches of (at most) 1000-2000 per pen design.

@ScottT The drying out seems to be related to the ink you are using.

The nearly immediately-drying-out pen I had got new ink and is now behaving well.

Caution: they are not like my Sailor pens who even restart without problems after several months.

Unfortunately, two of the colours I'm interested in (metal gray and Gray Chromium) didn't even go on sale, maybe. I still can't find them. Few pieces at AE inventory? Maybe.

@dimpep No, they sold out quickly. I just saw yesterday a design which also sold out in one day or less.

I saw the grey and the grey chromium (the lined one, isn't it) when they came out but forgot to put them into my cart. Next time, I looked, they were gone.

Just contact some sellers and tell them to bring them back. Apparently, it is possible. The gradation coffee which I missed too also sold out very quickly but some people told the sellers that they want to buy it. And since 1-2 days, it is back.

I told "365Days Stationery Store" that they should consider reordering a new batch. Why not do the same with them and other sellers?

If you search https://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-jinhao-10.html

Then you see a list of sellers of Jinhao 10:

Penszone Store

HT Stationery Store

JH Stationery Store

JB Stationary Store

MQ Stationary Store

NN Stationary Store

(I guess the blue ones are all related)

Pen Stationery Store

Pens Supplier Store

365Days Stationery Store

Stationery Station Store

Stationery Office Store

Contact them one by one. Good luck.

They will certainly ask which pens you are talking about, use the following links to show them. (Right click a picture below and copy image address. These links copy into your discussion with the sellers.)

@mke

Yes,  I have the latter, the fishbone pattern one.

I just ordered from HT Stationery Store the Gray Stripped colour. Unfortunately, the dark gray is still unavailable.

Thank you very much for your help, kindly appreciated!

@dimpep That is new. Thank you.

It is strange. When I first clicked on it says 100 available and suddenly it changed to sold out.

But I found it on MQ stationery store: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008264410332.html

Also on Universal Stationery Store: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008235047462.html

Also on Global Stationery Store: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008234942771.html

From some of these stores I found double entries where this pen is sold out.

I wonder if all these "stores" are real? Or if these are the scammers @A Smug Dill told us about.
