Admok M800 anyone?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried the Admok M800?  It appears almost identical to a Pelikan M800, though there are more colours available.

I was just wondering if they were any good, or should I continue to save for a Kaweco Dia 2

Notwithstanding how they're referred to by some sellers on AliExpress and such, the ADMOK model in question is actually a 簡800 (transliterated J800); and it isn't even as if those sellers reserved the ‘M800’ designation for variants pre-assembled with the grip section-cum-adapter that takes genuine Pelikan M80x nib units instead of either Schmidt or Bock nib units.

Anyway, I have the Schmidt variant, I have the Bock variant, and I have one onto which I fit the adapter for M80x nib units. They're fine for the price, and as far as I've seen their cap seal effectiveness isn't too poor either.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I like them, I think it was Dill who got me to notice them. Huge variety of acrylics that they continue to add to occasionally. Most of mine have the Schmidt nib, the Bock nib version is less common on AliExpress. I haven’t seen Dill’s Pelikan converter anywhere , maybe it’s a Taobao thing only.

I’m not at a point where I’d pay for a Pelikan M800, but this J800 is pretty well made and enjoyable to use.

I saw the adapter on Aliexpress around New Year’s but it sold out quickly.

I ordered one with a Schmidt broad with the intention of replacing the nib with a flex nib.

Is that the black one?  Hard to tell with the lighting.  I quite fancy the black one.  The black and blue is also appealing.

But I still fancy a Kaweco Dia 2.  But I won't buy both.

The Bock nib is more expensive as far as I can make out.
But from reviews I've seen, there is nothing wrong with the Schmidt nib.

In my experience, the (nibs on the) ones that came tapped for and fitted with Bock nibs are worse out-of-the-box. However, some people — including a subset of which who are just imagining — think they want the Bock nib variant so that they can “easily” swap other nibs into the pen, as opposed to judging what they get as-is for the money they spent getting the pen in the first place.

Better try it out first as their nibs are not EF despite the name.

Some eye candy J800s. These are aftermarket maki-e and lacquer applications.large.IMG_1287.jpeg.7463a820815885cd7e08459aca7324c6.jpeg

Very cool!  Wish I could find one with the Pelikan nib adapter.  I saw the adapter on sale on Aliexpress but I don't trust those sellers and I am unsure if the adapter fits all versions of the pen (Schmidt or Bock).  Plus Shanghaiknifeguy said the pens have very poor quality plastic...I don't want to pay for the pen and adaptor if they aren't at least reasonably durable.

Where did you see the adapters on AliX? Let me be the guinea pig on these!

The plastic isn’t Pelikan quality, that’s true, but I disagree with SKD, the acrylics are pretty average in quality (in a good way) and the chatoyance is pretty good. It’s not the brittle plastic of a low-end Jinhao model. I have, um, several and I’ve yet to encounter any faults with trim or the material.

good to hear!  I just searched admok 800 adapter kit on google and found one for sale on AE.  Just tried searching and can’t find it now lol.  Must be the universe telling me to abide by my no-pens-2025 pledge.

I think I bought it and that’s why it disappeared. Props to the fellow FPNer who gave me the tip. I’ll report back about it—in 21-28 days lol

Thank you! I've been lurking here for a long time, but this is my first post, I believe. Meanwhile the adapter sold out, so I appologize for unintended misinformation.

BTW, I was just chatting in another window with 365Days. They say M800 accessories (incl. the adapter kit) should be back in stock "in about 34 days".

If I understand correctly, you remove the Bock/Schmidt section and exchange them with the Pelikan section (into which you can screw the M800 nib/housing).

I think they call that Pelikan section "adapter".
