Hero 100 connector

So I got my first hero 100. The 14k gold nib all steel. The issue I am having is unscrewing the connector ring to take off the jbar guard,. I have tried hot water at 140f/60c then 2 hours. After that I tried using warm air from hair dryer. But the connector won't come loose. I even tried using a rubber grip to get a better grip on connector ring. Is there anything else I can do?

If I remember well, there is  special tool for that.

Try searching for "Hero 100 tool" in Aliexpress. Good luck!

If your talking about the special

disassemble tool I already have that. And it definitely does not fit over the guard. From what I have seen in some videos. The thread connector should be able to unscrew when griped and turned counterclockwise. As shown in this video

Your description sounds about right as far as the procedure for removing the filler guard. Some old Hero 100s from the last century are very precious and valuable. Some of them have deformed shells and are fragile, so please work carefully. There is no need to warm up the pen.

Please refer to the following.

From Baidu Experience.

It will take some time for the image to appear.

Seems like what I have been trying. Am starting to think it was made recently and the company made it tamper proof.

Actually, it didn't work for me either until I first loosened it. I will PM you the deprecated (dangerous) method I tried.

I have asked the OP to discontinue this method as it did not work when I tried it on my 2016 Hero 100 which I have yet to disassemble.

I think it should be possible to disassemble the 2016 pen since it was a pen before the youtube video was uploaded.

But as he says, I think it didn't work due to spec changes or other factors.

Does anyone have any better ideas?

Not counter clockwise, clockwise. The connector is REVERSE threaded.

Turn it clockwise and it should come out without any issue. It generally is not glued in there. All my Hero 100 come apart easily this way.

Stolen: Aurora Optima Demonstrator Red ends Medium nib. Serial number 1216 and Aurora 98 Cartridge/Converter Black bark finish (Archivi Storici) with gold cap. Reward if found. Please contact me if you have seen these pens.

Please send vial orders and other messages to fpninkvials funny-round-mark-thing gmail strange-mark-thing com. My shop is open once again if you need help with your pen.

Following @Dillo's advice that it could be done, I tried again using the conventional method of using two rubber tube plates and was able to remove the filler guard on my pen.

The cause in my case was lack of power. If I hear that it can be done in someone else's pen, I will dare to apply any amount of power.

However, looking at the connector on the OP's pen, it appears to be shaped differently than my pen and the Baidu Experience pen.

If it is because of the angle of view of the photo, and it is actually the same shape as the Baidu pen, please try again using two rubber plates and exerting enough force to make the operator's body bend forward, for example.

When I looked at the rubber plate after removing the connector, the surface of the rubber plate was covered with a lot of scratches.

My wrist is a little sore from exerting too much pressure…

Will have to get two rubber plates. All I have is the one bike tube that came with the disassembly tube.

It means a tire tube for bicycles, motorcycles, etc. Sorry, translation depends on translation software.

😅

Although I have never used it, perhaps rubber gloves or something else could be substituted for holding the section side.

Please take the time to prepare so that you can work in peace.

P.S.

By the way, my piece of tire tube is a rectangle of 8 x 5 cm. The thickness is about 0.8mm. This should not need to be specified. I think it could be smaller.
