Removing a Clip from a Pilot Elite

Recommended Posts

I have a destroyed clip on a Pilot Elite Sterling Silver Crosshatch that I'd like to remove and swap out from the cap. Has anyone successfully done that and can share how to remove and replace? I don't see from the inside of the cap any sign of a mechanism to release it and I have no clue how to disengage a clip from the cap. What tools are helpful? I've never done it before. I also have a different style clip on another Elite (3rd photo), that is loose which I'd like to tighten.

@KingsCountyWriter I just came across this diagram and remembered this post.Screenshot2025-01-27at11-18-14.png.61a2d5a7ba53d1f4ca70960c8b3ec117.png

Looks like you have to remove the clutch, inner sleeve then the inner cap. Then somehow, a spring of some sort. The inner cap looks to take a kind of two pronged driver.

Thank you for this diagram.

Hi。Have you successfully removed the clip from your pocket pen? Could you share your technique? I’m refinishing a damaged clip with cashew lacquer and need to remove it for even sanding/coating.thanks☺️

Sorry, not as of yet. I don't have a clear method to successfully remove it.

image.thumb.jpeg.c5662d065245fcb4bf3e2b44e0e45d82.jpegI also emailed Platinum Pen Company asking if the clip on their pocket pen could be removed. They replied that self-removal isn’t possible but offered repair services via mail. In the end, I had to apply cashew lacquer with the clip still attached. The final result is very Uneven.
