Any Otto Hutt Design 08 owners here?

Santa (me) was especially generous this year (to me) in providing a pen I’ve have my eye on for some time: an Otto Hutt Design 08.

A fine nib wasn’t available, so it came in medium with a thought to have it tuned if need be.

What I am finding is that it runs exceptionally wet, to the point that in my Moleskine notebook it writes as if on blotting paper. My Leuchtturm notebooks do rather better in that it writes in them with a broad stroke and doesn’t bleed.

One may say that this is simply showing up Moleskine as unsuitable for FPs, and to a degree that is right: there is some minor bleed on Moleskine with some of my other pens (see below) but the OH is far worse, with the ink taking around 30s to dry in some places.

Has anyone else found this to be an especially wet pen?

Answering my own question in part, a bit of comparative testing with various pens across a few notebooks has revealed that this particular Moleskine notebook is markedly less good than my other notebooks, including a couple of older and ostensibly identical Moleskine notebooks.

I usually only write on the right hand page, so hadn’t noticed until I looked back for the purposes of this comparison, but from the off all of my pens have bleed through the page in this particular notebook far more than in my other notebooks.

Whilst the OHD08 remains a wet nib, it is perfectly usable in other notebooks. It looks like this notebook will be retired early, or moved over to rollerballs.
