Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black vs Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite

Normal copy / printer paper.

Allowed to dry for 5mins before soaking for 2 mins with gentle rocking.

These are clearly two different inks as shown by the chromatograph, (not very good)

the Tanzanite (Pelikans prmium ink range "Edelestein") clearly has a purplish component and looks a "blacker" Blue-black than the 4001.

However, both appear to show aceptable water resistance.

Nice, and thanks for this good comparison. I  have both and use the both about equally often (although not all that  often). If you leave both (or at least the 4001) for a few hours up to 24 h, it should look blacker (at least as black as the Edelstein).

Thank you, @dave321, that's a quite interesting direct comparison. My Tanzanite appears leaning more towards the grey side while 4001 BB is a good balanced colour in the middle between blue and dark grey.

One life!
