Looking for a Swan L200/60 fountain pen or same pen for spare parts

Hey Everyone,

So I managed to find a good deal on a near mint Swan L200/60 on ebay and it got delivered to a friend of mine in the UK.

Sadly, despite the top-rated seller packaging it well, the Royal Mail destroyed the package. The cap end was smashed into pieces. Devastating!

I'm trying to figure it out with the seller but I haven't received a response yet and I have to wait till 19th for ebay to intervene if needed.

I wanted to know if anyone here has the same pen in great condition or has the pen that can be used for spares (especially the cap).

Thank you very much

Regards

Abhishek Gulshan

This is terrible for both of you.  You are better off offering to return it for a refund.  Some sellers will offer you a discount, but is there any discount that you would be happy with?

The pen appears to be the chased celluloid material. Not that common.  You are unlikely to find a cap.

In theory you could repair the crack in the celluloid and get a replacement for the hard rubber piece that was smashed.  The top portion of the cap from and L200 series should work.

Hi @Greenie,

Thank you so much for the suggestion. I've actually messaged the seller several times to work with me but I haven't received a reply yet so I filed for a return request.

Thankfully, the nib and the barrel are intact but yes need to find a cap. I'm not in favour of repairing the cap. Sadly not too many L200s around for me to find a cap. I've also requested the seller for the cap if he could arrange but for this, he needs to at least reply. I know it isn't his fault but he also needs to understand that it isn't mine either. My friend who collected the package told me asap that the package is damaged and when she opened it, despite the pen being in a construction tube which is practically unbreakable, the cap got smashed. It seems that it took a nasty shake for the top end (which was wrapped in some tissue) to poke out a bit and must've been hit very hard for it to get smashed like this. Sad that they ruined a peice of history like that. The mail should be a little more careful with items with the fragile tag on them.

Atleast the seller should reply and give me some options. Let's see how this goes.

Anyway thank you for taking out the time :)

Regards

Abhishek

Hi @Greenie

I've gotten this response and he is a top-rated seller on ebay who seems to have fulfilled his commitments. Bought it for 38.8 pounds

What do you suggest? Screenshot_20241216_173122_eBay2.thumb.jpg.90381663db79c3d008e23ccad8185837.jpg

The seller is being quite fair.  If you do not want a project pen, it is best to return it for a refund and continue your search.

I agree @Greenie

BTW, the first image is the one from his post on ebay and the second one is the one that has reached my friend in the UK.

Do they look the same to you?

Also I did ask him why is there ink on the nib.

I was leaning towards keeping the pen but I've asked my friend a couple of more questions about the nib. Hopefully she would be able to tell me by today - it feels like a dent on the top left on the nib so I'm just confirming that. Hopefully it is just light play and not that it too took a hit.

Otherwise, do these nibs look the same to you?

Thanks loads. I've decided to keep the pen and treat it like a project to complete.

Thanks for the suggestions and the guidance :)
