This is a reply to Axel,

I am really impressed that you have a Black Widow as a daily writer - and the 88 edition! - this is my favourite MB skeleton pen! How much would it be worth now?

I have only got one MB Yehudi Menuhin, which I love dearly and use occasionally, and my husband has two: Chopin FP and LeGrand RB (I think).

I would love to get more, but can not quite make up my mind where to start a collection: with Mont Blanc, Montegrappa or Pelikan, or possibly collect according to a special theme... Anyway, the very special MB limited editions will be out of my price range for a long time yet.

Since you have been a MB dealer, do you reckon it is cheaper to buy MB or Pelikans in Germany? The prices that I have seen in England seem a lot higher than in Germany.

My MB Adventures...

Black/Gold

2 #149 FP (1974, M; 2007, XF)

1 MB desk stand (1974)

2 #162 LeGrand RB (2002; 2007; both F)

2 #167 LeGrand MP (2002; 2007; both 0.9mm/use H)

Black/White

MB Customer Service "Historical" Collection--

A framed, personally-addressed letter, ca. 2001, from MB, Germany, lamenting its lack of parts support for my 1974 Noblesse (first gen) black steel/steel RB (sent to Bethlehem, PA for service, returned to Germany) and quoting the cost to replace (remake) a worn ~6mm nylon/polystyrene captive bushing (grabs/holds posted cap in place) at...US$1,000!

Purchased new in 1974, the Noblesse RB probably cost ~$60.

For 25+ years, it was a terrific pen. Absent a functional bushing and ability to post the cap, the Noblesse was essentially useless.

In fractured recognition of its inability to provide the trivial repair part, MB offered a 50 percent discount, at any MB Boutique (upon surrender of an enclosed certificate and the Noblesse--returned unrepaired), should I wish to replace the instrument with an "equivalent," current MB.

Whereupon, I acquired the first #162 RB (the first #167 MP soon followed).

An appropriate customer service "solution?" Your call.

A 144 which is a nice useful little pen and a 146 which isn't....as Bill said, I'm trying to like it, but.....
