Majohn/Moonman B25 Review

Anything copid from the school-use long time champ Parker 25, but the nib & feed, due to economic concerns and prevention of moaning, as confirmed from MJ.

Obviously, MJ was a player in mid-high price range up to RMB700. Now he even has ceremonial concerns of "moaning prevention" to a RMB30 range... (To maintain my social credit, following content has been removed.)

The ad on AliExpress had a lot of ad copy in Chinese so my phone translated it and Majohn makes a point of saying they are making this pen as:

”a good pen, with simple function, low price and durability.”

That certainly underscores your point, SKD, about how pen companies are re-positioning themselves.

I have one coming in orange trim. I had one or two P25s but never one with a fine enough nib, they were very common back then still with medium nibs, it seemed. And they seemed a little drab somehow—which is why I went for orange!

More colorways coming? I know the P25 came in matte black, white, and gold plated cap and barrel, and several trim colors, so I imagine if the stainless steel model is successful, we’ll see more colorways.

Not sure there will be new colours of MJ B25 or not. The initial launches doesn't cause that much sensation. 300+ per color inventory are still there.

IMHO, the grip of B25 is too thin for my taste. Hero 856, same weight of 10g, fatter grip, much more playful in hand.

In 2024, MJ breaks two records of its own: the most expensive model Ti136 Hammer, the most basic model B25

It is a thin pen, the Parker 25 came from that sad period when pen makers were making long thin pens, Waterman, Parker, Hero; so many pens from that period seemed to have been influenced by the Bic stick ballpoint.

good info. Thanks. The value of MJ B25 is trigger my interest into Parker 25. The un-sought-after Parker 25 was designed and still chanted for its "futuristic" look, but was collected today mostly for "nostalgia in 70's" . I have also found some interesting facts on Parker 25 and on the way building up a page here. it is quite eye opening to find out 70's pens with tip of that bulk size:

I compared with MJ B25 with my other "fligher" style FP from Hongdian (forest series, CNY 70), MJ P135 (CNY 90), Jinhao 911(CNY 10), Jinhao 58 Fligher (CNY 30). The B25 is definitely inferior in respect of material (build quality still solid). Thinner layer of steel, thinner barrel & cap of B25 (CNY 30), which delivers a instant feel of "joke or toy" feel once you pick up the pen. Jinhao's material and build quality on par with the double priced Hongdian, in this comparison.
