What Are The Most Ergonomic Pens (For You)?

Those that feel most comfortable to me all have longer sections (min. 2?5cm) that taper gently down to the nib (I grip high on the section): Sheaffer Legacy, Omas 360, Waterman Edson, Aurora 88p archivi storici, Pilot capless, ST Dupont Fidelio, Graf von Faber Castel Intuition, Cross Verve, Cross Peerless 125, Conid minimalistica.

Aesthetically, cylindrical and/or stick pens, comfort-wise as well. That's why I'm drawn to Pelikans, great shape and light as a feather. I can overlook the bulge on Optimas and Pro Gear Slims but it can sometimes be an issue when also carrying my phone in my shirt pocket. Prefer flat ends so not a real fan of the cigar shape though you'll have to pry my 140 from my cold, dead hands.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

The cap is longer than most of the German medium-small pens that were so liked in the '50-60's. Posted, it is the same size, as a posted 400....and then has the same great balance.

I 'sold' at a friendly price (old day price) a green stripped one, to an upstairs neighbor, to set him up. All he had was a Pelikan flighter nail in M, when I started with him. Springy Reform 1745 EF, Geha school pen with a most unusual F maxi-semi-flex (is for school pens most unusual),  a Pelikan springy 200 M***, and that semi-flex OB 140.

I had a couple Osmia OBB's and a few other semi-flex OB and B's, so could do my good deed for the decade with that Pelikan 140.

I do still have a black 140 semi-flex OF.

*** When I drink a man's whiskey, I can't charge the going price.

Even if he does drink mine.

I agree the 51's are very nice writers, but I cannot complain about any of my small, but important collection. Change is nice.

A posted 149 may be gripped by the tail end and used as well as squeezing the hand up to the nib area.

For me it's gotta be my 1920s Duofold. The pen is pretty big but the section taper is strong which makes it really comfortable to hold for me.

I'm only a couple of months into the hobby (/religion?) so ignorance and inexperience are my banners.

None of us start off even knowing we have an A or E....later we find out we have two elbows.

For ten years, I learned something new on pens every day....There are still times that is true, especially when I visit pen makes that I only have a few of.

When it's no longer every day, there are inks and papers to learn about.

Though, I suggest one learns about papers as much as possible.

Paper is the dance floor your nib and ink tango's on.

Writing is 1/3 nib width and flex, 1/3 paper, 1/3 ink, and in that order.

While comparing a Pelikan M800 and plain old MB 146 I suddenly realized I grasp an MB by the barrel and other brands right up to the section/nib divide.

I guess I perceive the MB to be sturdier so I can relax on the grip a bit.

A posted 149, as noted above, is such a unit that I can go to the back of the posted cap to write.
