I tend not to post my cap, ever since I scratched up the body of a Montblanc Ramses with the very first attempt to post the cap on the soft gold plated (over sterling silver) body.  Since that traumatic experience, I have resisted posting, but in the case of those small Pelikan pens, I do think posting helps.

Posting helps very much so, with the 'smaller pens like the medium-large 600:yikes:...or standard sized 200/400. It gives them the great balance posting gave them.

A good wax prevents posting mars.

Though most of my pens are old used ones...vintage..there was seldom a mar in the 120 I have.

The couple with a mar, a bit of semi-Chrome and a touch of wax did the trick.

Sadly, that gold plated pen had to have been waxed on arrival.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

I think there may be some confusion going on, here, since the Stresemann models have no metal inserts.

Maybe you are thinking of the M815 Metal Stripes?

I was going to say the same... which metal inserts? The grey stripes are just resin, like all the stripes in every colour variant.

And yes, the M815 Metal Striped is a rather heavy pen for exactly the reason that it consists of quite a lot of metal, but there is no M1005 (or M1015 in this case) variant of this model. 🤔

And if there ever was a M1015 Metal Stripes, I would jump at it!

Just saying, in case Pelikan is listening! 😀

Overall, from 600s down, Pelikans are light as a feather in the hand (though you can feel a slight difference between a 2xx/4xx and a 6xx) and write like a dream.

My M405 Stresemann, in particular? Much darker than photos of it would have you believe. It is a very serious pen, molto serioso. It is not a pen for mere businessmen who can make do with the traditional green (or possibly blue, if they're daring), it is a pen for undertakers, where gravitas is the byword. Truly beautiful.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Yeah, I was actually a little disappointed in the color of the binde on my M405 Stresemann -- the promo photos show it as a lighter grey than it really is.  ESPECIALLY since it's the most I ever paid for a pen (including repairs --even after saving money by buying it on eBay from Rolf Thiel at Missing Pens).

OTOH, it still is a great writer (I got it with a B nib) -- even if it isn't quite the color I expected (I could say the same thing about the Sailor 1911S Loch Ness Monster, which all the promo photos made look grey-blue, NOT teal blue... sigh...).
