Parker Snake Pen 🐍

Talk to me about the Parker Snake Pen—it’s been hiding in the bushes, as I haven’t seen it discussed recently.

It’s a rare species, so I feel fortunate to have a silver snake. Who else has one? Have you ever inked it, or would that constrict the value? Have you tracked down the accompanying snake stand?

The modern Parker Snake pens are quite rare, if I'm not wrong, around 5000. They have a convenient charging system {Converter/cartridge} and good weight. The only problem is that the cap's close position has no clear stop and can be pushed in too much. I sold one and regretted it now.

I, too, remember reading the silver Snake pen was limited to 5,000. That’s rare for a modern Parker.

They didn’t sell well and there are many NOS pens available. I think you can find them inked for around $600-$700. There are sterling and gold versions of the pen.

IMHO  I wouldn’t consider 5000 pens a limited production.

I was working at Parker, Newhaven when the reissue was released. Some of the work was carried out in Scotland, I think the silver overlay, as some staff went up there to work on it.

We also had a staff shop where pens and other stuff was sold at discounted prices. Vacnut is correct in their previous message, they didn't sell very well. The gold ones sold a little better, but there were less of them. 'Twins' got snapped up by serious collectors and pre orders (gold and silver with the same number i.e. 100/1000 gold and 100/5000 silver)

I bought three silver snake pens at the price of £325 each! Around the same time the Mandarin Duofold was being sold for £150 each, which I regret not buying.

Having seen the original #37 silver and #38 gold snake pens from 1906, I have to say I prefer them more. Just very little chance of ever owning one!

I've never inked my snake pen.

Regards,

Darryl

I see Montblanc Hemingway Pens listed at very high prices.

The surplus MB pens were available at Big Box Stores in the US after they were released. I assumed they were also not a great seller.

I seem to recall also seeing Agatha Christie Pens there, but I could be mistaken.

I was given a MB Rollerball from the store as a gift. I promptly lost it!!!
