Question for Cd'A 849 0.7mm pencil owners

Caran d'Ache gave me a free 849 Goldbar ballpoint because they screwed up me fountain pen repair [wrong nib size]. I dislike it because the ball point is cushioned when you press down - it gives.

My question is: Does the 0.7mm pencil version do the same thing?  In other words, if I press down too hard on the lead, I expect it to break.

You must be pressing harder than I do, because I have both an 849 ballpoint, an 844 0.7 mm pencil, and an Ecridor 0.7 mm pencil, and I have never felt any "give" an any of them.

No, not pressing hard at all.  Since it was sent to me free, I suspect it was returned to them (possibly for that reason).  The clam shell case had a dent in it and I assumed that was the reason it wasn't sold.

Thank you for answering though - that answers my question. It's the only experience I had with them and don't know of any place local to see in person.  My Leman and Varius are top level quality so I thought it was odd that the ballpoint would give.
