Montblanc 146 authentication

Hi, I looked up this Montblanc 146 on eBay, listed for 220€. I made an offer to the seller for 190€, which he accepted. Before actually paying for the pen, I wanted your opinion about it. Is it authentic for what you can tell from the photos? Being my first "expensive" fountain pen purchase I wanted to be sure before paying. Thanks a lot in advance for you time.

@tellent Based on the listing photos, the pen looks authentic.

Before considering an unknown eBay seller for a Montblanc pen, I run through this checklist:

1. 100% feedback?

2. Amount of feedback?

3. Detailed Montblanc information in listing?

4. Clear, closeup, complete photos?

5. Is the actual item for sale pictured?

6. Previous Montblanc sales?

7. Current Montblanc listings?

This seller fulfils 1. - 4.  5. is unanswered.  I cannot see 6. and 7.

But as far as I can tell, the pen does appear to be genuine.

Perhaps other members here could provide more insight.

Thanks for your answer. About points 6 and 7: the seller appears to sell mainly watches but I think there are one ore two other pens in his listings and going through his feedbacks I saw he previously sold a Mb 144, a Must de Cartier and others fountain pens.

@tellent Well, then, presuming that the pen you purchased is the same one in the listing photos, I do not see any obvious impediment to furnishing payment for your purchase.  (As you know, you are covered by eBay’s “Money Back Guarantee’ if the pen that is delivered does not match the text and photo descriptions.)

From the Photoshop and the destiles descripción (I read it in Italian), I think you bought “the real thing”, and it really looks in pristine conditions.

I guess you can find a few 146s a little cheaper than your offer, but honestly not in the condition of the pen you won.

My only quibble is that the nib looks like a medium rather than an EF.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Yes, I also think the nib does not appear to be an EF.

Other than that, the pen looks authentic.

Good luck.

Yeah, some others have told me that, but I'm not even that displeased since I've heard that Mb vintage EF don't perform that great.
