Where do members here purchase most of their fountain pens?

Knoblauch, Heidelberg; a five generation famly shop. For seldom new pens and ink.

Just ordered a Pelikan 200 copper rose pen in EF.

Mostly I buy used/ vintage and semi-vintage pens, mostly in live auction houses.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

Lately, I have been making my pens purchases at Dromgoole's.  While it isn't close (~1hr drive), I have been able to shop in person when I am in that part of Houston for the occasional meeting.

For me, my start is the St Louis Art Supply, who started this obsession in me by feeding my paper and ink addiction. I especially love that all pens over $25 they'll give the pen and nib a once over and potentially an adjustment to make sure it's OK. And they're local to me. Same for Papillion Press, but they have a significantly more limited inventory. But Madeleine is a real pen geek, so it's fun to talk to her.

If they don't have it what I'm looking for, it's usually JetPens first, then Vanness, then Yoseka, then Atlas, or whomever.

And I've bought from Japan for a couple of pens.

When I did buy new pens it would be Amazon and eBay but their prices are fairly high now 😔

I used to buy a lot of paper and notebooks from the local Daiso but I have too much paper now.

My pen (and related) purchases come from many sources.

Most new pens come from Endless Pens in Florida. Prices are excellent, in-stock pens arrive quickly and the service, overall (with one minor exception) has been flawless.

1. FPGeeks Classifieds have proved a number of good purchases at reasonable prices.

2. eBay has delivered some nice vintage pen. (Nothing from etsy, so far)

3. Local large flea market has been a great source of many pens. Some of which have been true bargains and excellent "finds".

4. The Commonwealth Pen Show -- I attended as a seller and was so busy I never had a real chance to buy anything.

5. Last Sunday I attended, in person, a live auction and won/purchased four pens... a Michel Perchin FP, a 1980's MB149 a 1879 McKinnon Liquid Pen and a gold dip pen.

6. Occasionally purchase something at my local pen club meeting... Boston Pen People.

7. Oh, I had, in the past, purchased a lot from Cult Pens and now, sadly, find most of their prices to be MUCH LESS competitive than they used to be. Also, their website seems incompatible with my Firefox browser and that annoys me greatly as I prefer to minimize my Chrome use.

Those are my current sources

So many places. When I can shop retail, which is rare, it’s the Pen Place in Kansas City, Missouri. They are online too.

Otherwise it’s online. Atlas Stationers, Vanness Pens, Pen Chalet, Pen Boutique, Fahrney’s, Goldspot, Jet Pens, Tokyo Pen Shop (Iowa), Levenger, Edison Pens, Franklin-Christoph, Karas Kustoms, Chatterley, Yoseka in the US. Anderson Pens, who I hope come back somehow after the legal issues are over.  I know of St. Louis Art Supply, but have not placed an order.

Phidon in Canada

Cult Pens, Write Here, Pure Pens, The Writing Desk, and Mann Inc in the UK.

Fontoplumo, Zaf Pens, Fritz Schimpf in Europe.

Milligram in Australia

Tylee, Pen and Tool in Asia

Finally, there is Amazon and eBay and AliExpress. Though I’m in the US, I’ve bought from Amazon.co.uk.

I know that people on other threads have referenced "pen porn" and now I also know there is something that might be considered "pen purchase promiscuity"!

A place that I have had very good luck in recent months is Truphae Pens. Nice selection and crazy quick shipping.
