I've bought pens at dollar stores, pen shows, and Five Below.  Also JetPens, Goulet, Anderson, and now mostly Amazon.  My pen buying has slowed to a trickle.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

In recent years, I have had good luck with Endless Pens.

My go to store for Indian Pens is Peyton Street Pens. Terri

Morris has an extremely good inventory of Ranga Pens.

I think I can claim Teri, Kirk, and Bryant as dependents on my income tax return.

+1. Over the past decade (at least for Bryant and Teri) I can safely say I must have put at least one of their kids through college. Still working on Kirk's kid.

I buy from a variety of sellers. In 2024, two from Peyton Street Pens (one vintage, one new), one each from EBay, Redeem Pens, Newton Pens.

Of currently inked, from other than I already mentioned: Goulet, Amazon, The Writing Desk (UK), The Penguin Pen (Rick Propas)

In the past, Levenger, FPN group buy from Guider, and I am probably leaving a few out.

I started getting the Levenger catalog by mail and see those fancy looking pens  They look very nice.  Are they for real?  They are not that expensive.  Who makes their nibs?

Do they write well?

I bought a bag from them and just got it.  Poor guys.  They sent it out the next day but it got caught up in the mail and took almost two weeks to get here!  Not their fault.  I see lots of other "luxury" items in their catalog that I would buy if I had more room in my house and it wasn't just me here to see them 🙂

I have two True Writers. The nibs are branded Levenger but I believe they are Schmidt nibs. I have no complaints on either of mine. One fine, one medium.  They do write well. Just cleaned one of them tonight.

Bought my first two fountain pens from them back in the late 1990's. A Lamy Al Star and a Waterman Phileas. They were my only pens for over 10 years. Have bought a variety of other things over the years as well. Started with the catalog showing up in the mail. I have a lapdesk from them that I use all the time.

The ones in their catalog are sure good looking, maybe too fancy for a guy lol!  It's not like I am the President of the United States or something like that and have a big oak desk, or even company to visit and see them 🙂

The 35yr anniversary, two-tone writers, and true write classics elements amongst others are are very nice looking.

There are a lot of items in that catalog I would love to have but probably wouldn't use.  I did just receive a tote from them (that is what almost got lost in the mail) and it is very nice. Wonderful catalog.  I am glad to see that some companies still mail out hard-copy catalogs, like Fahrneys. I bite!  hehe

Thanks ya Ute!  Not a Ute, didn't go to college there only worked a week or two a month in Salt Lake City for 16yrs or so.  I don't know if people from Montana have a nickname (that can be said around the dinner table at least lol!)

I have shopped far and wide: Jetpens for my first pen and ink, then pens from Endless Pens (who almost always seem to have something on deep discount), eBay, my local antique shop. Ink and samples from Truphae, Anderson (farewell!), esybuy on Etsy, and a now apparently defunct minor web retailer.

Mostly buy pens at the Dallas, St Louis and Little Rock Pen Shows. New pens many times from Vanness Pens.

For accessories, Jet Pens and Nanami Paper.  For pens (mostly vintage) ebay.

I am jealous.  I doubt I will ever be able to go to a pen show unless I fly to one. ;-(

Will second that…not particularly big but very friendly.  And also Kirk Speer’s home show so he’s there all weekend grinding away.

That would be great but too expensive for me to fly and stay there (and also buying pens,...!)

Thanks

My budget is more TWSBI than Mont Blanc but if I was looking for more high end stuff we have a great shop here in Brisbane -  The Pen Shoppe

I discovered Barbara Nicols about a year ago watched her penmanship videos, and have two copies of her penmanship book.  In fact, I emailed her a while ago asking about on-line workshops and she told me that they are being prepared in the coming months and that she was glad that I was interested.  Not sure if they ever happened.

I also ordered some things from the website (penmanship kit which included a LAMY with an italic nib - I don't like LAMY pens or nibs but I wanted what was being used in the book, etc...!), additional practice pads (not very useful as the writing examples are incomplete - just au, bu, cu, du but only so far -as in the book) but it was a treat getting them.  The postage was a little nutso though as to be expected! 🙂

Here is the email:
