2025 - what do you want (FPN stuff)

I must say the pandemic and subsequent recovery has knocked me around substantially, and I am sure many of my fellow FPN folk too. Financially it's a tough outcome so pens and stationery have been on the backburner. Luckily I may have stacked up a good supply for when the big stationery shortage comes along so I am still managing notebooks, paper and pens from within.

So what do you want to see in 2025? I want to be able to add a couple of FPs. The new Lamy Safari and AlStar colours would be nice and maybe a Pelican. Paper, I am probably ok. I might even live on the edge and open a couple of my secret stash of original Habanas with the original Clairefontaine paper.

So my 2025 FPN dreams a rather humble. What do you want in 2025?

(Please understand the purpose of this thread - we would all like world peace and wars/conflicts to end, food for the starving, disease control for the under privileged etc, but keep this thread in the light hearted spirit of FPN).

If I could, a Pelikan with a flex or italic nib. I have never owned one and now, with retirement, I doubt I ever will unless I hit the Lotto!

The 2 Sailor penguin pens that I am missing are the “pie in the sky” items, as the one example per pen I have seen for sale average around $1000 US a piece. There is a hand painted Kaweco  penguin pen that I have on my wish list that is more within reach. Otherwise, I would like to stumble upon more pens- it’s easy to go online and find ones that I like, but I miss the sumgai finds.

For stationery, I would love to come across another paper that shows ink properties as well as Cosmo Air Snow and Iroful . I like the outline some inks get on these papers.

Top 5 of 20 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Parker “51” Desk pen EF, Sailor Manyo Konagi

Yiren Giraffe IEF, Pilot Yama-Guri/sky blue holographic mica

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

I would like a blue or black Sheaffer 330 or 440 (which isn't cracked...) and a matching mechanical pencil. I see ads for them, but they're either NOS (plus crazy postage costs to here) which puts them out of reach or too risky. Fingers crossed for 2025.

Sky high dream would be a Carene.

Huh, there's a theme here: inlaid nibs!

What I experienced in the last few years will have an impact next year. I gave away more than I bought - no point keeping pens that dry out in my climate or are way too heavy for me. My budget shrank too. And then I stopped buying from places like AliExpress. It was a spluttering stop, a slow down after some bad experiences, then another, followed by a long break, then a tentative try, repeat. Sigh. I'm over it. And that unspending for most of this year added up to a couple of nicer steel nib pens in the Black Friday sales. All unplanned, but a good outcome.

Will work for pens...

I want an ink that magically cleans itself off your fingers.

Many moons ago I stumbled upon a FP shop called The Strained Thumb. Thought it was a ripper name for a pen shop.

I’d love to see the return of classifieds on FPN. There were so many interesting things sold through classifieds that I’m sure I’d end up with some fun things if they came back.

Same here actually.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.
