Sailor Pro Gear Imperial Black

What is your opinion on this pen? I'm normally drawn to glossy finishes on fountain pens, but I keep going back to look at pictures of this pen. I really like the dark nib. I'm torn. I have a matte black Lamy 2000, and I still don't know how I feel about that pen. The Sailor is dark and mysterious.  A motorcycle riding, leather jacket wearing bad boy. 😅😅

It's a good pen. I used one as my secondary “every day carry” for two years or so, back when I was still working in an office environment. The screw-cap on it has good cap seal effectiveness, but also makes it less suitable for being my primary EDC pen, that being a Pilot Capless for quick and easy nib deployment when taking notes in meetings, etc.

Thank you both for the responses!  I'm very grateful for the link to the review.  I didn't realize how short this pen is. The 1911L is a nice size for me, so I'm certain I would find the pro gear too small.  Good to know.  Still,  what a beauty.

So perhaps get the Sailor Profit Black Luster instead, which is based on the full-sized Profit (aka 1911L) but has a metal grip section which makes the pen heftier and puts the weight balance more towards the front end. It has the same type of black 21K gold nib as that on the Professional Gear Imperial Black; but the whole pen is glossy.

I have a ProGear in a matte black finish with gold furniture and an EF nib that I use every day at the office--I bought it from Joe Vitolo a couple of years ago. I love the matte finish because it doesn't scratch or show fingerprints. The nib is spectacular for a Japanese EF, just the right wetness and feedback. I don't know what the model name is--I suspect it was a limited edition.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.
