Raw Ebonite too dry on Danitrio?

Keyless Works

Recommended Posts

I have this old ebonite Danitrio. I don't know how it was stored but the grip section is darker and smoother while the body and cap feel dryer by comparison. Does this pen need a polish or "moisturizer" of some sort? I don't care about the difference in color I just want to maintain this pen to the best of my ability.

I have read that Renaissance wax is not suitable for ebonite

would probably leave it alone - this is my swan from the 1920s - the section definitely looks better hydrated than the rest of the pen!  no issue with this century old ebonite, i still bring it for use at work.

That's caused by UV exposure and oxidation. It breaks down the bonds in the upper surface of the hard rubber and causes it to change color. I would just leave it as is. In the future, I would keep it away from UV light to prevent the oxidation from progressing.

Stolen: Aurora Optima Demonstrator Red ends Medium nib. Serial number 1216 and Aurora 98 Cartridge/Converter Black bark finish (Archivi Storici) with gold cap. Reward if found. Please contact me if you have seen these pens.

Please send vial orders and other messages to fpninkvials funny-round-mark-thing gmail strange-mark-thing com. My shop is open once again if you need help with your pen.
