A big hello to all from Fremantle, Western Australia

Looking forward to being a part of this group

Got my first fountain pen back in 2013, now it's 28 pens and still counting

Still learning and I'm positive I will learn a lot more here

Greetings from Pittsburgh, PA! :W2FPN:

You're a lot further along than I was when I found my way here (more than a dozen years ago at this point).  I started with a cheapie Parker Reflex c/c pen and then when the rubber on the grip disintegrated I bought another one.  When the same thing happened to that one, I couldn't find a third one (Staples no longer carried them).  So went online and found Parker's website, and found that there was an old-time stationers' downtown that was (at the time) an authorized Parker dealer, and bought a Parker Vector -- and felt SOOO estravagent having paid a whole whopping $9 US JUST for a pen -- back then I was only using FPs for journaling (I hadn't kept a journal or diary since high school, so wanted some "good" pen and "good" notebook to get back into the habit -- of course, in retrospect, NEITHER the first journalist nor the Reflexes really were).

But about a dozen years ago I left the Vector and the then current journal and the bag they were in at my in-law's house and didn't get them back for about a month.  And journaling with a regular pen just didn't have the same feel to it.  Went looking for a replacement, and in the process found the Goulet Pens website and found my way here.  Now I have WAY too many pens (I tell my husband I have somewhere between too many and not enough) and just got another pen -- actually a set -- at an estate sale yesterday for WAY less money than it could easily have gone for).  Of course HE will tell you that the pens were just the gateway to the "real" collection -- the inks.  But had me try to pick up more Namiki Blue at the last couple of pen shows I went to....

I generally suggest that new people click on the "New Content" link when they log in (to get a wide range of topics) -- you can adjust how much/often it refreshes.  And to check out the pinned Index to the Ink Reviews (people are trying to resurrect old posts, especially the images -- a lot of which were lost in the Great Photobucket Hijack from a few years ago.  But also warn them they have found themselves amidst evil enablers, who will HAPPILY help them spend their discretionary budgets on pens, inks, paper, desk accessories, repair tools, pen shows and ephemera (me, I dived headfirst into the vintage pen rabbit hole -- but my two most expensive pens are a couple of modern Pelikans).

Have fun here, and remember -- the only dumb questions are the ones that don't get asked!  I'm constantly amazed by the amount of knowledge to be found here (and not just pen related at that) and the generosity of this community in the sharing of that knowledge.

So, what pens do you currently have and which one(s) do you like the best?

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Hello from Sydney, and welcome to FPN.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.
