Ebonite feeds in sections of pens designed for feed posts, w flats.

Hello,  At this point, my FP journey has entered the area of monkeying w the feeds to get better flow to the nibs.

As you know, (most?) plastic feeds have posts/tubes/collectors.  And many of these, umm, more pedestrian pens have a flat in the section--the feed must also have one.

My question is (I bought a grab-bag of mystery ebonite feeds from FPR)-Are any of these non-post ebonite feeds going to function in pens where the pen is designed to have a feed w a post?  (I have already sanded a flat on one ebonite feed.)

Am I stuck w plastic feeds if the pen is engineered for feed w a post?   Do any ebonite feeds have a post & a flat?

Then, there is the flat in the section....If changing a non-flat ebonite feed into one w a flat (to fit such a pedestrian, cheaper pen)-does someone have a jig that makes is super-easy to alter the ebonite feed in such a way?

My apologies if my questions are not clear-I'm happy to clarify.

As always, many thanks

If your pen is designed to have the thin feed tail, you can't use the flat ended feeds. The tail helps the ink flow smoothly through the thin section of the connector.

There are ebonite feeds that have the thin feed tail on them, but they're usually purpose made.

There are pens with flat ended feeds that work with cartridges, but usually the cartridge connector has some internal ribs or channels that help conduct the ink to the end of the flat feed. Some old Reform pens and old Lamy pens are designed this way. Otherwise it would not work. Also, if the feed doesn't have a way to exchange both air and ink and bring these to where the cartridge connector is, your pen is simply not going to write
