My S.T. DUPONT pens are missing!

Well to be fair I never had them.

What I do have is an ST DUPONT presentation case with lighter, and it has space/holders for two pens.

The tag reads:

S.T. DUPONT's master craftsmen have painstakingly fashioned this work of art for your pleasure, a timeless tribute to beauty and elegance, a symbol of S.T. DUPONT's mastery of the ancient craft of lacquering.

This exquisite example of the goldsmith's art is coated with authentic Chinese lacquer, a natural living substance extracted from the sap of the lacquer tree (Rhus Vernicifera) and collected in the Far East specially for S.T. DUPONT.

It also states: Certificate No 62510 Q.

I am trying to discover SPECIFICALLY which pens would have been in this set, so I can attempt to complete the set.

I'd greatly appreciate any assistance and information you may be able to provide. Thank you.

I have sent an email to the ST DUPONT store here in Australia as a starting point, awaiting their reply but I'll bet there are some people on this forum who'll know about these pens...

If it helps I think the lighter is a ST Dupont Ligne 2 model.

(Serial?) number stamped on the bottom of the lighter is 81GEB19

This appears to be the lighter I have

https://www.elegantlighters.com/shop/p/st-dupont-ligne-2-wood-grain-lighter

Possibly pens similar to these ballpoints may have been what was originally in this set?

https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/a-pair-of-s-t-dupont-ballpoint-pens-with-laque-de-338-c-04a4c88bc4

or more likely a pair very similar to these but with a woodgrain appearance as these are noted as "in Chinese lacquer, 18K solid gold feather"

https://www.antiques-delaval.com/en/various-collectibles/10308-pen-pen-pencil-ball-st-dupont-feather-18k-gold-lacquer-of-china-cabinet-twentieth.html

or https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1731379901/st-dupont-laque-de-chine-ball-pen

or https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1772189512/authentic-st-dupont-laque-de-chine-18k

or https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1732272760/high-end-dupont-st-dupont-chinese

finding the actually correct model/s could be a challenge.

I found this case which is similar though not the same

https://tangibleinvestmentsinc.com/product/s-t-dupont-lighter-pen-set-with-box-and-papers/

and while the pens may be correct (no way of knowing), the lighter clearly isn't from that set as it doesn't fit neatly in the designated place.

The pens may never have been in the box.

I have one S T Dupont pen - the box came with an empy space for the lighter.

However, the S T Dupont I have is a lovely writer.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

With Black Friday coming up, you may get a good deal somewhere on a couple of new ones.

As far as I can tell, not having a Tiffiny or Cartier fountain pen, Dupont makes the finest fountain pen**...if only the nib was a tad softer. I had a counterfeit one once...great looking pen, outside the nib.

Even the underside of the clip is polished to perfection. Not quite that level on the counterfeit.

** Some Japanese super expensive pens can match a Dupont...MB is ok, almost but not quite in the same class as the Dupont...IMO.

...................

I do have a Dupont lighter, a silver plated one, one of the many Ligne 2 ones.

We have something called the local 'the give away market'. My wife went to get one thing, and brought back a pile of lighters....that didn't work (so much for plan A), no matter how pretty they were...well they had been lying around for 30 years or more. I sold two at the flea market, and didn't make back the price of a bottle of gas.

I could get the guts to make the Dupont work for some €20....but the lighter is lacking the famous 'click'. I'd have to send it off to the factory.....and me trying to scrape up gelt for fountain pen repair.

I did give up smoking, outside of an occasional bum and smoke yours. :notworthy1:

Still hooked.

The price of Dupont lighters was always a bit high....now totally shocking. (so worth the repair costs)

Ronson was the lighter one could get back in the day...instead.

In real life, I use to lose Zippos....never a Storm King, folks would run after me to give it me back that left on the table contraption....a Zippo had a life of 6 weeks.........then came Bic.

A Storm King was a cheap Zippo copy.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

The cheapest lessons are from those who learned expensive lessons. Ignorance is best for learning expensive lessons.
