That's cool. I wish he had King's Gold.

Kings Gold was available in April 2023 at $50/bottle.  But you had to buy in packs of six.

Well nuts, now I'm in a quandary. I purchased 2 bottles of Sheaffer Blue from Anderson pens and now that they have arrived the bottles have a black label with a Made in India sticker on the back. I was going to put them into 2 Mabie Todd Swan pens that had just been re-sacked by Danny Fudge at The Write Pen. Now I don't know if I should use the new ink.  Grrrr...

My green didn't have the black label - it looked just like the ones on the Sheaffer website.

Glad you at least got warning. I was so disappointed.

Right!? Do you want me to open this or just despise you for the box?

What's wrong with the box? How does one mess a box up?

Here's an image of the box:

Note the angled "flaps" on the side?  What you can't see is that under the word "GREEN" is a tab (about the width of GREEN) that tucks into a corresponding slot (I'm sure you're familiar with them - "insert tab A into slot B" sort of thing).  Well, you can't pull that front flap on which GREEN is written out to remove the tab because it's attached to those side pieces with the triangular-ish shape.  You need a knife or something to work the tab out without tearing the box.  Once the tab is out, the whole thing unfolds like some origami box.  Then the bottle has another piece around the neck that doesn't want to come off over the lid...  Let me see if I can find a picture of it opened....

Except this doesn't show the piece they put over the bottle, around the neck under the cap to hold it more firmly in place.  Anywho, it's a royal pain getting that tab our of its slot, since you can't really pull that piece away from the slot - that's the biggest nuisance.  Like I want to go through that every time I take the bottle out of the box?  (And yes, I keep ink in their boxes to protect them from light.)  Note that if you just don't reinsert the tab, it's easier, but you'll also grab that top piece and the whole box will "fall apart" as you lift it...  Someone just wasn't thinking.

I was at Penchetta today in Scottsdale, AZ and they had single bottles of the old American made Sheaffer ink in the Burgundy box as well as the older white label made in Slovenia ink. No Kings Gold though. They also had some old OMAS bottles for the early 2000s or maybe older.

Does it say made in India or is it just the company that is based in India? I have not seen "Made in India" on a Sheaffer bottle.

That box reminds me of the old playground game M.A.S.H (mansion apartment shack house). My last Sheaffer bottle (2020/Purple) has a sharp clear plastic box, same bottle.

Top 5 of 20 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Yiren Giraffe IEF, Pilot Yama-Guri/sky blue holographic mica

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

Never heard of the game.  Apparently Sheaffer (and Monteverde, who use clear plastic boxes) haven't heard that we keep ink around for years and a nice dark box (that's easy to open) is the best thing to help keep our inks protected during their long stay in our overly large ink stashes. :D

Sorry, it just has the company name and address in India in very very fine print: I needed a magnifying glass to actually read it...

William Penn Private Limited

15, 17th A Main Rd. KHB Block, Koramangala, 5th Block,

Koramangala, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560095 - India.

On the bottom of the glass it is actually stamped into the glass "Slovenia".  Written vertically on the side of the Black Label it reads:  Item No. 94221 - Blue.

Unlike LizEF's bottle, my bottle with the Black Label does not say "Skrip" anywhere on it. And it was not packaged in a small box.

I see what you mean.
