How are Sheaffer Skrip Inks in 2024?

Has anyone bought Sheaffer inks recently? I know the company changed hands a few years ago but I am curious if the inks have changed from the Slovenia produced inks from the early 2000s.

I would like to replace my old bottles of blue and red. I know that John Mottishaw used Skrip blue as the house ink for testing and tuning because it was well behaved and very easy to clean.

Thanks in advance.

They're hard to find.  Blue, Black, and Blue-Black are available in bottles (or were last I looked).  Other colors may only be available on eBay or in cartridges at random places.

My understanding is that William Penn (the owner of Sheaffer) is continuing production of the ink in Slovenia. I emailed them to ask if they changed the formula and I got this ambiguous answer

We would like to inform you that there have been no changes to the ink itself. However, we have improved its quality to provide a more comfortable writing experience. We kindly ask you to give it a try.

So I ordered some. They are now made in China and have a different black label.

I hope it's what you were looking for :)

From where did you order your Sheaffer Skrip inks?  And let us know what you think of them once they arrive and you've tried them.  Thanks.

It's not. I returned the ink. It wasn't what was pictured on the website.

:( I hope my bottle of Sheaffer Green matches the non-green I'm expecting.  (Mine was ordered from Anderson Pens, though.)

You received that order very fast. Did it come from India or China? And are you sure it was the version made in China?

I'm sorry to hear that :(

I'm afraid that many of the old brands are not what they're used to be.

Shipped from New York or New Jersey. The bottles were similar to the Slovenian bottles but with a black label that said Made in China. I asked Kenro (the distributor) and was told that these ink were always made in China even though the old bottles said made in Slovenia.

What? "always"?

:( My Sheaffer Green that I ordered from Anderson Pens is actually green.  It's nothing like the ink I reviewed from a cartridge.  This packaging (which is a nuisance) says it was made in Slovenia, FWIW.  Waste of $12.  It's a boring green, much like Waterman Harmonious Green.  Yawn.

Oh, dear. I really liked the old green, which was actually sort of teal green. My bottle was getting low, so I also ordered one from Anderson, but before it arrived, Lisa mentioned it on their latest video. She said it wasn't the old green, but a green-green. It arrived today and I haven't opened it, but I think I'm going to be disappointed.

I just opened it. It's as Liz says. It's not a bad color, but I have others that are quite similar. And the packaging - what's that about?  Oh, well, green is my favorite ink color and I use a lot of it....

Glad you at least got warning. I was so disappointed.

Right!? Do you want me to open this or just despise you for the box?

I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately when companies go bust like that, they just go bust :(

Thanks.  Yep, sad fact of reality.  I'm not going to pursue more since there's no telling what I might get in any given bottle.  I think there are probably similar enough inks out there if I get in the mood for a cool, refreshing, minty is-it-green-or-blue-or-teal-or-turquoise-I-can't-tell ink. :D
