French have an expression, which is not very polite ;)

:lticaptd::lticaptd: (Compared to what a Russian sailor might say, I'll bet it's very polite. ;) )

:D Thank you.  (You may wish to return to the bottom of page 1 - we've been replying so fast that I fear my reply to you there was lost in the exchange.)

Lie in French is the residue, lees or dregs deposited in teapots. I'm hoping our tea drinking members can give us the correct term

Personally, I would say 'lees' for the stuff that remains in the bottom of the teapot after one has drunk all of the vital elixir that it once contained.

'Dregs' sounds like things that are much less pleasant.

But the usage preference between these two terms is - like the differences in usage between 'brewed', 'stewed', and 'mashed' - also the subject of geographically-defined custom and disputation, even within just England.

With respect to the ink that you reviewed here, I have seen a few people say that it is rather like Pelikan Edelstein Smoky Quartz, so I may be buying some of the Herbin when I have exhausted my bottle of the Pelikan

I do admit to being 'with' your mother when it comes to putting milk in to Darjeeling!

:) Same here, though I rarely drink tea these days ;)

Well we have Kazakhstan on our side, and quite a few people in India too.

And on your side you only have Everyone Else in the Whole World, so our victory in this argument is undoubtedly, er, 'certain'...
;)

I won't argue with, er, that ;)

They probably picked it up from holidaying Brits.
We - infamously - are wont to 'cuss enough to strip the paint off Heaven's gate' :D

No doubt! Anyway, this time it's an alter-ego of professor Eenees ( @InesF) a priestess of some sort who was trying to read into future with scientific-ish method, that got doused to spear cat & mouse :lticaptd:

:lticaptd:Let's hope the professor appreciates your method of sparing both mouse and kitty! ;)

Professor Eeenesss approves! 👍

Thank you both for taking care and for the nice cross-references. Indeed, magic can escalate quickly and can heat up. Be it an ice bucket or a water test or an emergency shower in the lab, all those are helpful! 👍 (the last already practically experienced in the past)

I like to add: if there is Lie de Thé there is Lie de Hope!

Thank you, @yazeh, for your comprehensive ink review! I have to admit, I like the hue of this ink - and it is again the subtle grey undertone that makes it pop out of other pale brown inks. Very interesting!

As far as I can interpret, there was a honest attempt at sharing the water test equally!  Well done, @yazeh. Mouse may have the advantage, as water (or tea) had to be filled into the cup anyways. But, as we can see from the painting, mouse is well and cat observes carefully - looks like with scientific curiosity and interest1.

Looking forward to how cat and mouse will deal with next ink review! :)

1) isn't it so that cats (be it Klaws or be it Smokes) do strange things that turn out later being done for pure scientific interest only? What would you say, @LizEF and @yazeh? 2)

2) interesting what this forum software does with member references in uppercase mode ... 🤭 ... science is everywhere! :)

One life!

I'm wondering if that's the spellcheck correction ;)

Indeed. The tea is finished and Mousy is reading into the tea leaves :)

I pay attention now. If the ink is waterproof cat can have a go :)

Until there's not universal translator, so until then we can assume that cats actions are solely in their own interest :)

Glad the shower was there, then!  I was always extra careful when I went into the lab as I did not ever want to have to use one of those showers - they were placed at intervals in the hallways, next to the eyewash sinks.

1) :D You know what they say, "pure scientific interest killed the cat." :lticaptd:

2) That is indeed interesting!  (We call it "superscript", FYI.)  "Uppercase mode" would be akin to "all caps" or "caps lock": THIS IS UPPERCASE MODE / ALL CAPS.

Thanks for the review. I have a bottle, and when I use it I want to like it more than I do. And then....meh. The problem is likely me.

I have too many brown inks myself. Some I like more, some less. It's probably me too :D

:lticaptd:, although, I hope not. ;) :)  Because, the cat is halve alive, halve dead - it's undecided as of now. 🧑‍🔬🤷‍♀️

Oh, yes, of course! I try to live up to my reputation as a confused professor - and sometimes I get carried away. 🧑‍🔬🤷‍♀️ ;)

One life!
