M800

A few weeks ago, I was ruminating on whether to purchase a M600 or a M800. After posting about my dilemma,  and receiving many excellent replies,  I bought the M600 with a medium nib. Wowser. That nib is closer to my concept of a broad. Very wet writer.  Goes through ink like a fire hose. Because I was conflicted, I now have a M800 with a fine nib making its way to me. 😊😊 I always expected I would own both pens. Silly of me to even make a choice.  If I love the fine nib,  I might end up sending the M600 nib for a left oblique or cursive italic grind. Make it truly special.

More often then not when deciding between two pens I eventually somehow end up with both.

Flipped my 600 in a week after getting M800 #1 and ended up with 2 M800s in short order (one EF and one Italic).  They just feel so much better to me…

They are nice complementary pens, the M600 feeling more light on its feet compared to the more substantial M800. Congrats on your new acquisitions!

Received the M800 today (four days early!). It definitely feels more substantial than the M600 in my hand. I'm going to fill it with Pelikan 4001 green ink and take it for a test drive.  I already like the heft of this pen. It will be interesting to use the fine nib and compare it to the medium on the M600.

I think Merrick is right about the 600 and 800 being complementary pens. The 800 is great for long writing on large paper, but I keep my 600 in the pen loop of my notebook/journal. It's a better fit for the book itself and that type of writing. I have one 600 and three 800s. They all get used.

I’m also one who has both and am very happy I do. Writing with my 600 posted is a dream, and the nib is very responsive. I write with my 800 unposted and with the extra weight it feels very solid and substantial; its nib isn’t as responsive but the ink flows smoothly.

Okay, I am really loving this M800. This nib is smooooth, and I really like the way the pen fits in my hand. It has a weightiness that I really like that I was missing in the M600. I definitely like what was said about the complementary potential of the two pens. I'm thinking the M600 would be a great Journaling pen.

Yup - the M800 is a darn nice pen.  One nice thing is the easily-interchanged nib.  YES, a Pelikan medium id anyone else's broad, and their fine is ~ Parker med.

So I have bought extra nibs for mine (you only need one spare per colour - either gold 2-tone or palladium plated) since you can exchange them in seconds.  Cheaper than 2 pens.

Yup, I think extra nibs is a great way to go. I'm doing the same thing.
