Stipula Musk Green Replacement

JohnUphill

Recommended Posts

I have been rationing my Stipula Musk Green, but the time will come when I need a replacement. I have Diamine Salamander, Safari, and Graphite as well as Sailor Rikyu-cha which comes quite close.

I am not even sure how to describe the color of the Musk Green!

I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Ugh.  Are they no longer making it?  Here's a link to a reddit image which suggests KWZ x Cult Pens Brown Green and Robert Oster Bronze are pretty close.  Can't help further, except to say that I'll sign the petition to make it a crime to discontinue murky green inks! ;)

I have tried all my usual sources and even thought I had landed a bottle at Yafa’s site, but no luck. I don’t know, but I strongly suspect it has been discontinued.

Thanks for the suggestions.

In the distant past a direct contact to Stipula received a quick reply:  have you tried that?
Fall back:  have you contacted Italian sellers?

Please let us know how you fare.

Stilo & Stile only have three Stipula colors left - not this one.  All my googling suggested "out of stock" everywhere.  Stipula may well be closing shop, no idea.

I suppose one could contact Stipula directly...  Their web site is up.  Perhaps the ink production is just having a problem and will return when the problem is solved...

You can order direct on the Stipula website. Mossy Green is still available for selection and I was able to put one in my cart. I didn’t actually order it, mostly because I didn’t want to deplete the stock available for you, and I just got Ryku-cha.

Top 5 of 19 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

Thanks for the tips.

Given the shipping cost from Italy to the U.S.A., I think it is time to start ordering some samples domestically.

I went chasing this, with the added problem that I only like it darker.

Sailor Rikuycha is more greyish brown, Shirakashi more green; Robert Oster Melon Tea is more yellowish brown; but it depends heavily on the pen.

In the end I managed to snag a couple of bottles from Atlas Stationers last november (but they seem to no longer carry Stipula), and I found a pen that consistently produces it darker: Pelikan M120 M.

Getting some samples for more options sounds like a good idea.

Have you looked through:

There might perhaps be a suitable candidate lurking (or should I say murking?) in there.

Good luck

I paid more for shipping than for the ink, but I should have a lifetime supply of Musk Green now. I ordered a couple of bottles directly from Stipula. I don’t know how many bottles they have left in stock, but I didn’t want to be greedy and a lifetime supply is much less than it once was.

Thanks to everyone who offered their thoughts on this subject.

All the reason to savor it more.
