Hello FPN,

 

To be honest, I'm not sure how I got into pens but I somehow did! 
I won't write as much as the other introductions but Hello, I'm Austin and I'm from Australia!
My current pens are a unidentified Pilot that I want to identify, a Lightive, and a sadly slightly broken Vanishing Point. First pen was the Lightive, I may or may not have accidentally turned part of a bed black with it.

So far, I'm thinking of getting a Custom 823 soon so maybe that will be mine soon? Perhaps. I usually carry my unidentified Pilot with me everywhere where it sits in my pocket, apparently half the people I know don't know fountain pens are a thing, they thought it used water...

You should be able to find people on here who can identify your Pilot in no time 🙂

It's a friendly mob too, so you should be able to find plenty of useful information, and enjoy the journey while you're doing it.

 

Do be warned though, most of us the members here are shameless Enablers, and we they will be only too keen to help you to blow all your money on pens, inks, paper, and other stuff that you don't even yet know that you 'want' 😱

Lastly, I'm a pom - so I just want to apologise for the fact that the imminent Ashes are going to be such a walkover for your lot (all our quicks are crocked again) that even the most die-hard cricket tragics will be bored to tears by the lack of competition, and your broadcasters are going to rue wasting so much airtime on it

 

Anyway, I hope that you enjoy your time on here, and that your pens give you many years of writing pleasure!

Welcome, @Bluetaco!  I really can't think of any reason to discourage you from a Custom 823.  

 

Every Pilot I've touched has been a delight to use and I hope you can get your Vanishing Point fixed.  Or what I might do is buy a second VP, so you can have a working pen and two nibs to choose from.

I'll say I got an 823 and inked it today; it's mighty fine.  I'd rank it prob 3d of my 6 pens so far.

Welcome! I love my 823 in translucent Amber. Such an amazing nib, and the ink capacity is unreal. I had to learn the hard way to open the end cap when writing more than a few sentences.  When closed, it blocks the ink from the feed. I had to flush the pen and refill it to resaturate the feed. Lesson learned. I tell you this because I have no doubt you'll be the proud owner of one very soon. 😁😁
