I'd like to buy my first Bexley and I am wondering what is the quintessential Bexley? The one that really represents the brand. Looking for a good writer. I don't have a budget in mind.

With the amazing variety of styles the company made it may boil down to your individual preferences.  I own several Bexleys and the two I keep returning to are a Prometheus and the 10th Anniversary pen.  Both are ebonite.  Both are aesthetically pleasing and both are well-balanced in my hand.  The Prometheus is a bit larger than a Pelikan M800 but fairly light while the 10th Anniversary is comparable in size to a TWSBI Vac 580 but much lighter.  The Prometheus has a steel nib and the 10th Anniversary has a 14K gold nib.  Both are fantastic writers.  I would call the design conservative with elegant lines and superb quality of manufacture.

I hope this helps.

For me, the quintessential Bexleys are the Americana or the Poseidon.  Both classic shapes.  The BX701 comes in as a close third.Bexleys.thumb.jpg.cad85e3add2316a8209ca16eedc2957d.jpg

Here you have the Americana, the Poseidon Magnum and the BX701.

Bexley Corona pens are nice.  They are piston filler pens.

I have a Corona and love it...but I think classic Bexley is an oversize CC pen. Wish I had bought some more when they were in business.   Over the years I've come to prefer CC pens anyway since they are so easily filled and cleaned

Thank you all for the replies. I love the Americana. The ones currently for sale are quite expensive. Not sure what fair price is but I think I will start with something cheaper. I like the 10th Anniversary pen and the Poseidon.

How are the Submariner pens? Are they small? I see a couple in nice celluloids.

I wouldn't consider the Submariner a "small" pen, though it is certainly more slim than the Poseidon.  I don't think you can go wrong with either the 10th Ann. or the Poseidon.

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

I got an ebonite 10 anniversary model. Seems like a good place to start.

Thank you to everyone for your help!

Your other pens will feel neglected once you ink the Bexley.  I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.
